Osaka Sushi — Restaurant in Grande Rivière Noire

Went there upon getting a good recommendation from somebody. Was very disappointed with our sushi lunch for the following reasons: Clearly non-existent welcome from the staff. We got seated by ourselves. We had to change table as one of the seats was full of hairs. We realised after getting seated that the glasses on our table, had been used by somebody else as they still contained water. The menus were brought to us after a while. The menu cards were filthy and sticky. We ordered the cheesy salmon platter (26 pieces). Plus point: it took under 10 minutes for the platter to reach us. Note that it was past 13h and there was only two more tables. Had been told that the sushi were huge. Came out that it was normal size. Service still non existent. We had to call back the waitress as the soy sauce was not provided in the first place. The avocado was hard, unripe and bitter whilst the nori was chewy. Complained about the bitterness of the avocado to the waitress. The chef quickly came to see us and acknowledged that he was aware that there was an issue with his supply of avocado (and yet he serves them!!). He proposed to prepare some alternative sushi but we refused as our sushi lunch had already been spoiled. First and last time....

Dining at Osaka Sushi Mauritius was an absolute highlight of our trip.

Service: I expect good (if not great) service, it was highly lacking. It took way too long to get my order placed, and then to get served. I could see my sushi sitting on the counter for a good 5-10 minutes. Neither the Sushi chef, the waiter nor the other guy that was clearing tables and serving appetizers seemed to notice that I was waiting. Food Quality: Maybe I have become spoiled, but I normally expect my sushi rolls to be made from whole pieces of fish. it appeared that both of the premium rolls i ordered were made from ground fish. Just not my expectations when it says i am getting tuna & salmon, i expect to be able to identify Tuna & Salmon. Communications: This sort of falls back to the service, but I felt like an outsider, someone that should not be there. when was done, the waiter came up and asked me if I was done, i said yes... he came back with my check, dropped it on the table and said "Sorry we...
