We stopped by as the family was extremely hungry and saw the restaurant in the way. Wanted d a quick meal. It is /was run by an elderly chineese couple. We ordered chips so we could start munching right away. Ordered jumbo prawns dish for my elder daughter a soup for my younger daughter and chicken for my wife and veg fried rice and veg choupsey for me. It took ages for food to come even the chips. Every time we enquired the old man at the counter simply said let me check would go inside for a few minutes come out and said it was coming soon when the food finally came it was a big disappointment. The prawns were definitely not jumbo the sauce was actually an half tablespoon sauce. The soup portion was extremely small and it was more of a paste than a soup. The choupsey was basically green Thai /Chinese lettuce mushrooms in a white sauce. The taste was decent but the lettuce did not look fresh (maybe they were frozen). The rice portion was decent. People who came after us and ordered take away and a few sit in orders got the food earlier. Don't know if it was the dishes we ordered or just that we were Indians and others were white Caucasian (have no idea so will not judge at this point). The lady I belive may be the men's wife was the one serving did not have any other waiter or waitresses. Don't even know if they had a cook. The hotel is located in a good place but food and the service was a bit big disappointment. Avoidable restaurant. Only thing I liked were the old couples efforts to keep the...
Read moreThe service here I have to compliment straight away, I often interact with Bernadette at the register. She provides me fabulous recommendations on what to order if I am struggling to decide and she always delivers. The food here is always tasty and the place boasts a well thought out traditional Chinese menu with translation. You can dine in or opt for take out. There is ample parking across the road. If you are waiting for your meal to be prepared there is a pool table inside which I find myself constantly taking advantage of. Just ask at the register if you can play and specific coins will be given to you. There is a smoking area on a terrace. Drink options...
Read morePavillon de Jade is an amazing restaurant. It has a traditional Chinese style. The decor is warm and home-y. The food and service are pretty good. I've tasted a lot of "hakiens" in my life but the ones they make there are honestly one of the best I've had in Mauritius.
They also serve beer. The view you get there, is the mountains. There's a balcony area and a pool table for chilling. They even play soft Chinese music while you're eating, which is very relaxing. I've gone to many Chinese restaurants but Pavillon de Jade still is my...
