Honestly visiting that restaurant wasn't at our focus at the begging of a day, just like the whole plan of the day๐. However we are so happy that our Driver we hired proposed us different schedule of the day and trully we do not regret at all! One of the points was a visit at local restaurant, which is lead via family and what most important they have always fresh seafood at very good price, where both price and quality we never get same at the hotel. Guess what ? ๐... I have to say he was 500% correct. Interior is not sophisticated, just normal, local one, so if u looking for gorgeous looking place... well u might be slightly disappointed. We NOT, cos do u come to place to eat fantastic food or to seat at fancy interior? I guess answer is simple and obvious. If u fan of local food and great family atmosphere, that will be best place at Mauritius ๐. We highly recommend to follow guidelines of one of brothers ( Bossy one ๐, who has handsome little boy ๐). First you will get plate with rare seafood ( pic inc.) where at different price points you can show, literally, what u preffer. I wanted from the very beginning lobster plus we have taken Red fish ( do not remember name). Than u have to wait for 15 min, but u will not regret. It was DELICIOUS!!! ๐ Honestly we eat a lot at different places and beeing honest I can tell u with closed eyes, when u come to Mauritius that has to be on Ur bucket list to visit, especially that is very close to Botanical Garden ( that one u also have to visit and with to take a Guide, not expensive at all). Overall for two dishes, deserts ( vanilla ice cream) mojito and sprite we paid 3000 MUR. Plus second liquid dessert ๐. One again thanks to whole Family for hosting us - it was = So far, so good ๐๐. Was INCREDIBLE!!
Also to our Driver he drive us there. Btw if u looking for amaizing Driver we recommend Vijaysingh Gooroochurn - you were AMAZING TOO...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter a hot morning, my driver suggested this restaurant today. I trusted my driver as he had provided me superb service on yesterday and the lunch was delicious
Upon entering the restaurant I felt kind of strange. The waiter said have a seat so I found a seat. There were men in blue shirts and one guy in a yellow shirt; I figured he was the lead.
One of the guys came over and what do you want to drink..no explanation of what they had. There was a young lady with a drink, so I asked what it was....he said fresh pineapple, so I said I would like to have that...it tasted like dirty water. I called someone over because they Clearly weren't interested if I was ok..I asked for a Pina colada, but it was not available.
The guy in the yellow short dropped the visually menu at my table but walked off. A blue shirt guy came and took my order. No one asked if I needed anything the entire time. After I was finished the yellow shirt guy came and calculated my bill on a calculator and left. Despite the terrible service, I left a small tip.
I told my driver I was disappointed and irritated. After I walked through the botanical gardens to calm my nerves, he took back to the restaurant where I received an apology and refund. I wasn't looking for an apology or refund; I just wanted to eat a good meal and relax.
I'm quickly learning the disrespect I work daily to eradicate exist all around the world; even in a country that's 36 miles by 23 miles in...

(We had just found out that Le Fangourin restaurant at L'Aventure du Sucre was closed for a private event.) When we reached there, we saw that the restaurant was a simple, open and airy dining hall, no bells and whistles. But there were just two other groups inside, and all were tourists brought in by taxis โ a major red flag. (Later on, I read reviews calling this place a โtourist trap.โ) But the time was already 1:30, late by Mauritian standards, and we could not afford to waste more time. A plate with different catches of the day were brought to us โ shrimps, a red snapper, a crab, three tiger prawns and a lobster (in increasing order of price; a fish samosa plate, rice, salad, and fries, included, we were told) โ and we were offered a choice among four gravies as well. We chose the lobster in a Rougaille sauce. The flamboyant host came on a bit too strong, to the point of making me rather uncomfortable. But soon, two other groups of tourists arrived in taxis, thankfully diverting his attention! But at the end of the day, the service was polite and quick, the prices were exactly as stated before we placed the order, the bathroom and dining area were clean, and most importantly, the lobster was fresh. We ended up having a good Mauritian meal, which was ultimately...
