During our recent visit to Saffron Grill for lunch, we were enticed by the promise of a delightful buffet featuring Indian cuisine in the heart of Grand Baie, Mauritius. While the food and ambiance largely lived up to expectations, our experience was unfortunately marred by a significant issue with the billing process.
Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and enjoyed exploring the variety of dishes available at the buffet. The selection was impressive, with a range of flavorful curries, freshly baked breads, and delicious desserts that showcased the rich culinary traditions of India.
However, the highlight of our meal turned into a frustrating ordeal when it came time to settle the bill. Despite making our payment at the counter and receiving confirmation, we were later contacted multiple times by the restaurant staff insisting that we had not paid. Initially, they claimed they had tried calling us from their landline with no response, which was not accurate. Later, they acknowledged their mistake, explaining that they had mistakenly charged us for another table's bill.
This confusion and inconvenience regarding the billing process detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. It was particularly disappointing during our holiday in Mauritius, as it disrupted our plans and caused unnecessary stress.
In summary, while the lunch buffet at Saffron Grill offered a delicious array of Indian dishes in a pleasant setting, the issue with the billing process significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. We hope that the restaurant addresses these communication and billing issues to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at an exceptional Indian restaurant, and the experience exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for a delightful evening. The staff's hospitality was remarkable; they were attentive, friendly, and eager to ensure a memorable dining experience.
The menu boasted a diverse array of authentic Indian dishes, each bursting with flavors that transported me to the heart of India. The chefs demonstrated a mastery of spices and cooking techniques, creating dishes that were both aromatic and delectable. The chicken tikka masala was a standout, perfectly balanced with a rich and creamy tomato-based sauce.
The restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients was evident in every bite. Fresh naan, straight from the tandoor, complemented the main courses perfectly. The presentation of each dish was also commendable, showcasing the culinary expertise that went into their preparation.
What truly sets this establishment apart is its dedication to customer satisfaction. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate dietary preferences and provide insightful recommendations. Overall, my experience at this Indian restaurant was nothing short of exceptional, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and delightful...
Read moreAbsolutely disgraceful that this establishment can call itself a fine dining experience. There is no merit whatsoever. Over fried and crispy pani puri and dry chicken tandoori on a sizzler as starters were the highlight of a hellish dinner. Over seasoned food and dhal, flies landing in plates and casual mice running across the dining seems to be a common occurence. I dined there on the 29th Jan 2019 with a party of 15 and probably the worst Indian food experience Mauritius has to offer. Even Street food huts serving local roti and dhal puri should strongly be considered before this place. I do not understand how adding copious amounts of fresh apple to a dairy falooda elevates it in any way to a fine dining experience!! I stand to be corrected but that is by far a mockery of dining out and claiming to be a heightened Indian dining experience when it is not!! With regards to the mouse we saw, the staff (shah rukh) instead of apologising justified the rodents presence by stating that it's an open mall and such presences are inevitable! Sheer class! Such places should be shut down by ministry of health and/or Indian staff should be accustomed to Mauritian food quality and fine dining experience before they are even allowed to rob us of our hard earned money. Absolutely...
