What you look for in a town like this… what you wander the streets for… what you dream of when you when you dream of the name Bacalar is Authenticity, and like many places, it is starting to slip away. Too much money, too much glitz, too much booze. But then you find that perfect balance in a place like Chacá where you can feel the authenticity seeping out of the brightly painted container kitchen like sunshine squeezing out from behind bright clouds. The staff is happy and attentive, the food was wonderful, we had spot on french toast with maple syrup. Perfect color, caramelization, taste, thickness, everything! Loved the staff! Loved the basket chair! Loved finding the place plopped down in the middle of a neighborhood where you would never expect to find such a perfect place, like stumbling on an oasis in the middle of a desert! This is the perfect balance between old and new. The excitement of possibilities without giving in to the cigars and destruction of Cancun. It welcomes the traveler while still offering them...

We went there for breakfast, which is usually hard to ruin but Avocado toast was a big disappointment with only one egg on one slice of bread, with a few yellow leaves of Arugula and one small cherry tomato, and probably like one eighths of avocado! The best dish from our order was Chilequiles with chicken and eggs, it was really good. I would give them five stars for ambiance and super friendly waitress, and overall, a very pleasant experience but that Avocado toast...

Everything was fresh, made to order and cooked perfectly, my fried egg was the perfect runny! LOVED my dish. The toast is homemade and you can taste it.
The fresh orange juice was so amazing, the natural sweetness of the oranges, OMG.
The Bloody Mary was different than I am used to but I loved it, had less of a tomato taste, more flavorful and best of all not heavy like some can be.
Would I go here again?...
