I came here with my friends after reading all the good reviews. We were the first table of people in the restaurant and were very hungry. We noticed that service seemed a little abnormally slow but seemed understaffed and so kept waiting. It was alittle upsetting to see some who arrived half an hour later to get drinks while we waited for our first round. We did not even get to put in food orders in for an hour and did not receive our dinner for 3 hours. Other issues: There was a more limited menu than what it appeared to be online. we received salsa but no chips which with 8 hungry people waiting for hours for dinner was a tease. I asked for chips twice to no avail. They tried to bring us the wrong dish several times that were for other tables. They all seemed confused as if they had not slept and had no sense of time or reality. When I tried to address concerns the waiter said it was just part of the Bacalar slow food experience. The food was sub-par to bad with the exception of the salsa which we did not have chips for so had to eat with a spoon. We were overcharged on our bill and they fixed some of it but not all of it. We all left hungry and went to get tacos after we left. I had high expectations, and it looked nice inside but really the food was a joke. We never even got our worms that...
Read moreWe were expecting a wonderful evening based off of all of the reviews left online. When we arrived half of the menu was not available, and they only had enough of the Cochinita to serve 3 of our party with it. Our server was very nice but the service itself was incredibly slow, the majority of the time we were in the restaurant we were the only guests there. The 3 of us that ordered the Cochinita thought it was great, but the rest of our party who ordered differently were not as satisfied with their meals. We ordered dessert and it took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, and when the Kaapej arrived it was much smaller than we anticipated. It also was nothing like we expected from the description of a chocolate coffee mouse. It tasted very heavily of coffee with a gritty texture. All in all based on the price and other reviews we were disappointed with...
Read moreIt's a beautiful little restaurant, cozy outdoor setup with few tables and chairs but fantastic Mexican food with great flavors , gourmet presentations with new flavors. It's a nice restaurant to know flavors of Mexico. Staffs and chefs were really polite and nice. We went will many friends and ordered almost everything to taste . Everything was fantastic from tacos to moles . Love the mole negro and jackfruit mousse dessert. Affordable price around 250mxn per person. Everyday is a different menu or would say chefs choice which a great concept
Only suggestion: It would be nice to a have written menu as its difficult to keep in mind when we ordered the foods and when staff were explaining the menu verbally. We didn't had anything to read.
But I would say go with a open mind and you will love everything what you eat. Food and...
