This restaurant was a dream!! We talked to the waiter and it appeared to have opened about two weeks before our dining experience last night. My husband and I are staying at a resort down the road and wanted to get out and treat ourselves and El Huerto went above and beyond. First the ambience is on point. It's makes you feel like you're walking into old hacienda ruins that have been revitalized and turned into a restaurant. The dining space is completely open-air and covered with a large awning. Your view is out towards Cabo San Lucas, we ate after sunset and you could really see the city lights creeping up the hills in the distance. Aside from the fact that this place isn't quite on the map yet, as in there's no imagery showing it on Google Maps, you wouldn't think it was such a new restaurant. Everything ran so smoothly and the waitstaff new exactly what they were doing. The food was divine! You are not coming here for Mexican food, you're coming here for a taste of the Mediterranean, that's influenced by local ingredients. We enjoyed the house cocktail, "Abejas & Flores" a mezcal, honey, chamomile mixture. I think even those who aren't a big fan of mezcal would really enjoy this drink. It was so smooth and the mezcal flavor was not overpowering. We started with the tempura green beans, which were perfectly fried, not too salty or greasy, just amazing pockets of flavor combined with a wonderful aioli and ponzu sauce. We also started with a pumpkin and ginger soup, which they split so my husband and I could have our own bowls. Those two dishes were the perfect start for our dining experience. For our mains, I had the fresh made tagliatelle. I didn't realize how much I need fresh pasta in my life until I tried this dish. My husband got the short rib, which comes with a risotto and beets. I got to try a bite of his short rib and it just melted in my mouth. We were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, I wanted to try everything on it. Unfortunately by this time we were both so full we decided that we'll have to come back again and save room for dessert. In the darkness you couldn't quite see the whole property. After we paid our bill we got up to walk around the grounds. There were picnic tables spread around, hammocks, a playscape, a large green lawn that would be perfect for small events. From where we had been sitting I could see a large cactus in the distance, which was past everything I just described. This giant cactus was where the farm part of this property started. There were rows and rows of things growing like rosemary, tomatoes, mango trees and pathways that allowed guests to walk through the farm without stepping on plants.
TL:DR: I was in love with this place, the food was chef's kiss divine, the people were amazing, and the ambience was perfect. I would definitely come back and recommend friends to visit here. I feel like something like this would be such a hit back home...
Read moreWhat a romantic and adorable gem — I’ll be making this a must-visit for every Cabo trip going forward. I’m honestly just bummed it took me five trips to finally discover El Huerto!
This spot strikes the perfect balance — it’s family-friendly and casual, but you can also dress up and have a dreamy, romantic date night. The whole setting is on a charming farm with glowing string lights and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to linger.
From the moment we checked in, service was on point — warm, attentive, and thoughtful. It was a particularly windy evening and they brought out blankets for my husband and me without us even asking. Such a sweet touch.
Now for the food — absolutely incredible and a great value. Some favorites: • Zucchini fritters: crispy and flavorful. • Market salad: the farm-fresh tomatoes and veggies had such depth of flavor (only note: the bacon topping looked like it had been sitting out for a bit). • Organic wood-grilled chicken: this was the standout dish of the night. The lemon balm on top brought the most phenomenal flavor, and it was served with the best romanesco I’ve ever had. I asked for a side of warm pita — giant slices with the perfect doughy center and crispy edges — and used them to soak up every drop of the sauce. I nearly licked the plate. • My husband had the lamb chops, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary champagne toast and dessert for our 8-year anniversary. It was such a lovely gesture and made the night even more memorable.
El Huerto is the kind of place that feels special without trying too hard — and the kind of place I’ll be dreaming about long after...
Read moreSo let me start by saying one word “AMAZING”! I held off on doing my review because I wanted to try more dishes and get a full experience of flavors and ambiance. In both of our visits we tried as much as we could possibly engorge ourselves with. I wasn’t sure of what to expect for Organic and healthy eating. Much to my surprise I am pleased to give you this review. Here is where it becomes the love affair....imagine this.....Suckling Pig, Tika Masala-Cauliflower with pumpkin basmati rice, Mussles in a beer reduction with chorizo with homemade focaccia, grilled pumpkin slices, home made pita bread with hummus adorned with peppers and chorizo sausage, roasted beets with goat cheese and pistachio, risotto with snow pea, lemon grass and fennel, grilled octopus on hummus and chorizo chimichurri, tempura green beans with a garlic and herb aioli and ponzu sauce, pumpkin risotto, roasted sweet potatoes and Margherita Pizza. Yes we tried all of this in just two visits! Emilio is the mastermind behind all of these amazing dishes with so many amazing flavors that I would be doing them an injustice by describing each dish experience. I strongly recommend that you come and let your taste buds endure their own food ecstasy. Now for desserts.......we tried the coconut mousse with roasted pineapple and quinoa brittle crisps, warm chocolate tamal with vanilla ice cream, white wine poached pear toppled on brownie with hazelnuts and Requeson cake (Mexican cheese cake) with a plum compote. I’d be lying if I said we weren’t full by the time dessert rolled around, but us foodies found the room after a short stroll around the gardens. Treat yourself to a food experience that will leave you...
