We stayed in both the golf resort and the villas during our stay and both had their pros and cons.||The condos at the golf resort were in decent shape with a true Mexico feel in the decor and mouldings. The unit we stayed in was "M" and our balcony looked towards the ocean so you could see the cruise ships but also the road way, construction and Walmart, etc. Our unit was just across from the main lobby of the resort.||Our balcony had lots of seating including a table and chairs, lounge area and coffee spot for 2. The sliding door was sticky but we made do. The inside had a living room area with modern TV and a dining table for 6. The fridge was a good size. The only thing we wished that we had was a dishwasher. ||The condo was cleaned well but we also tipped the staff well. Beds were comfortable, mattresses were on the softer side and pillows on the flatter side. Our Condo had 2 bedrooms with king beds, 2 full bathrooms and 1 couch with pullout bed, Each room also had its own air conditioning.||There were dishes and a few cooking utensils, etc. provided. We found groceries at Walmart and the grocery store downtown which we took a taxi or Ubers to. The food and drinks on resort were definitely pricey and you cannot bring any snacks or drinks down to the pool. ||The wait staff at the pool were generally good but 9/10 times if you wanted a drink, a menu, to order food, etc. you had to go to them. You could order to the pool from the one bar and restaurant on site. Towels were provided but there were a few days that if they ran out, they didn't bring any more and you had to bring your own from your room.||The pool itself and the surrounding grounds were kept relatively clean. There are 2 pools and 1 hot tub. The smaller "warm" pool was always a bit murky, meaning you couldn't see the bottom of the pool, ever. The "cold" pool was clear and much bigger but so cold my family barely used it. The hot tub was also a bit murky but a decent size. ||There was usually a couple sun chairs available at the pool every day but there were also sun beds that you can use for a fee, or, if you are property owners of the villas, for free. Even though this was our case, we had to have an exchange with the same staff member daily over whether we had to pay to use them. They seemed very protected even though us and one other family were the only ones to use them during our stay. ||I personally didn't golf but what I could see of the golf course looked nice and well kept and my husband and son had nothing bad to say about it. ||An average taxi ride downtown from the resort was around $20 USD or closer to $10 if you took an Uber. Make sure to agree on a cost of the taxi before accepting the ride. We found Cabo as a whole, EXPENSIVE. The downtown restaurants were insane and the street markets were asking $40 USD for sweaters and $15 USD+ for a kid's tee. A family meal of tacos and quesadillas with 1-2 drinks each cost approximately $500 USD. The property is set a bit away from the city so on the quiet side aside from the construction noise of the villas still being built.||After a few days at the resort, we did move to a Villa. They are beautiful, big and modern but because of the openness of the house you can hear EVERYTHING. Doors, dishes, people talking, toilets, the hot tub. If it makes noise you can hear it everywhere in the house. Because of the openness there is definitely a draft so doors will slam, or alternatively, open on their own if there is a small breeze or gust if they are not fully latched. ||The bedrooms were large and spacious with balconies and seating off 2/3. The third had a smaller balcony. Each room had a TV and full shower. 2/3 were King beds and also had a jetted tub. The third was 2 double beds. The mattresses were too soft for our preference but the bedding was clean and comfortable. ||The rooftop included a lounge area, table and chairs, BBQ and a hot tub. There was no sun shade over the table or BBQ so cooking or eating for most of the day was not an option as it was either too windy or way too hot. The kids used the hot tub in the evenings once the sun went down and we only barbecued once.||The kitchen was an odd shape and on the smaller side so it was hard to have more than a couple people in it at one time. It also lacked some ideal items such as mixing bowls. The dishwasher worked well as did the washing machine. We had to purchase laundry detergent. There was a full size fridge and freezer which was useful having to cook your own meals. A lot of the cupboards in the home itself including where the extra linens were kept were very high up/tall so unless you are over 6 feet tall they were impossible to reach. ||The pool in the backyard was nice but was also freezing cold so we did not use it during our stay. The large dining table outside was a nice asset but we ate our meals...
Read moreWe were nervous and excited to finally take a trip after 6 months of quarantine. We felt the Cabo community was taking serious precautions and would actually be safer than the US.
Through our membership with Global Discovery, we booked a 2 bedroom at the Golf Resort for 2 weeks thinking it would be a safer option. On their website, they bragged about how they were following strict COVID precautions. We stayed at the resort in the past and at that time it was tranquil, quiet and away from the typical Cabo crowds.
We called ahead to confirm our arrival and expected an easy check as we expected very few guests. But when we arrived at 2pm, we were delayed an hour before our room was ready. We were then approached by a promoter (with his mask around his chin) trying to sell us excursions. We moved away to keep our distance and told him we just wanted to wait for our room. Once the room was ready, we carried our luggage up the flight of stairs to our room. Later, we saw others were given assistance with their baggage but we didn't think to ask for that service and it was not offered.
When we arrived to the room, it did smell of disinfectant and many items were wrapped in cellophane. We felt the room was adequately prepared. However, over the course of our stay, several of the staff wore masks on their chins. I get it - it's hot. But most particularly, one bartendress never wore her mask during the two weeks and at one point was eating a mango and handed our receipt and drinks to us with her wet, mango covered fingers. Gross even without a pandemic.
Our expectations for quiet were broken as every weekend they sell day passes to locals filling the pools and common areas beyond capacity. They stated it was their attempt at staying in business... which I can understand, however when you're paying full price at a resort, you expect access to the amenities in a safe fashion during a pandemic. Perhaps they should have designated a "guest only" section. Instead, the common areas and pools were overcrowded while, of course, nobody wore masks.
To top it off, we were there through Hurricane Genevieve. Of course, we were very concerned as it was at a stage 4, a day away from potential landfall. We asked about any precautions the resort was planning for the building or for guests. The front desk staff told us basically not to worry and did not mention any efforts being made. Having experienced hurricanes in the past, we went on our own to the stores to prepare for any power outages or water issues. The only effort made by the resort was to provide extra towels for any leaks. Luckily, it was only a category 1 as it passed by Cabo. The room flooded and we were left to clean it.
Overall, while we were glad to have our retreat, we will not stay at this resort again. We visited other resorts/hotels to eat or drink and saw a very different scene at those locations. You can visit in a very safe way and will experience a general gratitude for your support at every...

The phone in the room to call the front desk did not work so we walked over the front lobby and no one was there. We waited a few hours and finally a gentleman came to the desk. He said he would call maintenance and to return to our room. The maintenance man showed up and after much back and forth he said he couldn't fix it and to call the front desk to ask to be moved to another room. We walked back to the front desk and spoke to the same guy asking to move our room. He said there was nothing available and to come back in the morning. We went back to our room and turned on the kitchen taps and water started leaking out from underneath the kitchen cabinets. We had to use all the towels to soak up the water and ran to the front lobby. The maintenance guy returned and turned off the water to kitchen and bathroom so we had no tap water. This was beyond unacceptable. A few hours later we heard LOUD music and directly across from our condo was a huge concert stage. The music started at 8:00pm and ended at 3:00am. We did not get any sleep.
We went to the front desk in the morning and insisted to speak to the manager. We were told she was in her way and to wait in the lobby. While we waited in the lobby we observed several guests coming to complain about issues with their condos. After waiting for 4 hours the manager showed up and took another 2 hours contacting maintenance and explained that they wouldn't be able to fix the plumbing so would move us to the room next door. We said we wanted to be moved to another building away from the music stage (which was a 3 day concert). We moved into the newer building. The front of the stove was hanging off and the fridge smelt like something died inside. We went back to the lobby and spent another 2 hours waiting to speak to the manager. She said she would send maintenance and replace the fridge. We went to the pool to cool off and noticed that there was a white film around the pool edge and could not smell any type of chlorine which we thought was strange. The restaurants were empty. Other guests we spoke to said the food was terrible. We went off the resort to buy some groceries and eat as we questioned the cleanliness of the restaurants
We spent the next day driving to Todo Santos. On the way back we checked the weather to see that there was a Cat 2 🌀 expected to make landfall the next day. We immediately went to the front desk to adl if there was any emergency plan for guests and were told no. The roads would be flooded, no power, no on-site service for restaurants or rooms. We packed up and rescheduled our flights to fly out that night
This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed. Management were beyond disappointing. We will not return and do...
