I’d been wanting to come to this restaurant for an entire month, but when I finally did, it didn’t live up to my hype.
First, I was uncomfortably warm. I was sweating, despite being next to the AC unit. 😆
There was only one server, but the restaurant was fully packed, so our service was rushed and slow.
Upon arriving, I explained to the server that I am vegan and what that entails (no cream, no dairy, no cheese, etc.). First, he brought two sides of mayonnaise-based sauces to the table. I told him I couldn’t have anything creamy, but he assured me that “it wasn’t cream, it was mayonnaise.” I left it alone.
Then, when we ordered our appetizer, I asked if there would be any cheese with the dish. It didn’t say anything on the menu, but I asked just to confirm. He assured me there was no cheese, but then he brought me a plate covered in pesto (which is typically made with Parmesan).
He once again assured me that theirrrr pesto was NOT made with cheese, but at this point, I didn’t know if I could trust him. 😅
Finally, they brought our Neapolitan pizza which was served with vegan cheese… Hopefully, it was vegan. Who knows. I was so glad they had it as an option, even though it’s not listed on their menu.
The pizza was kind of small for a large, a little oily, and absolutely covered in garlic.
One good thing about this restaurant was the drink prices, though. I thought they were pretty reasonable, and I was happy that I could order a Bloody Mary with tomato juice (most places use Clamato, which I can’t drink).
Overall, I think the restaurant has potential. I love that it has a completely separate vegetarian menu (strange that you have to specifically ask for it, though), and I appreciate that they have vegan cheese. I will give them another shot for sure. Their appetizers all sound...
Read moreWe had a breakfast that was wonderful. I had the French toast. So tasty. I will do it again.
We love Figs and Olives. We had their Special Christmas dinner. It was a three course meal. The meal was delicious especially the steak fillet and shrimp main course. Now we know where to get a good tender steak fillet. Their breakfast, lunch and dinners are all very good and reasonably priced, too!
As always, the food was delicious. We had the BBQ ribs which we shared. It was plenty for us to share. The fig salad was split, as well as, the tortilla soup was more than enough. They do a great job of it. My foodie friend had the Chicken Parmesan. He loved it. It looked tender. He said it was delicious. All and all we enjoyed eating here. Friendly hard working owner and staff we're here for us!
We had a group of us on Mondays to play canasta. This time we chose Figs and Olives. We had their chicken enchiladas and we shared it. It was very tasty and delicious. A great time was had by all!
We had a wonderful lunch with fresh sea bass and shrimp tempura tacos. It was beautifully prepared and looked great in the plate. There were tacos to each plate and it was too much food.
We love this place. So, we went with our friends there today. Seafood pasta was great! Also, we started with their pear and fig salad which was very tasty. We had a bottle wine to go with it all.
We stopped for their wood oven cooked pizza. It was delicious. The food here is always good. Good service and friendly owners. You feel right at home here.
The food is wonderful and affordable. Anything from breakfast, lunch or dinner. The wood fired oven pizza at 4pm and until closing is great. They desire a chance to make a...
Read moreWhat a diamond in the rough. In town visiting friends and decided to have some dinner. So glad our friend knew of this place. As we approached knowing it existed, we were not sure it was open. We parked and walked the small walkway under the pergola to the outdoor seating. It was very simple and quaint. We continued to the inside. The inside was table clothes and inside clean. Amazing decor throughout. It felt amazingly comfortable. We were greeted by the owner with a big smile and ready to please.
We looked over the menu and so many great options. I couldn’t stick to one choice so I ordered something from each course. Guacamole, beet salad, seafood past, and the pork ribs. My wife and our friend ordered the three cheese pasta.
The guacamole was hand made and amazingly paired with pico de gallo. Then the beet salad came. It was a meal in itself. So much flavor and beets were cooked the chilled to perfection with so much flavor. My seafood linguine had plenty of seafood including shrimp, muscle and a couple filets of local sea bass that were tender and delicious.
This place is not a tourist spot and off the beaten pasta of downtown but well worth the Uber. It’s got great ambiance, owners and staff that care and want you happy. The only negative I can say is the order the food came out. They came out as each meal was prepared. Like the guacamole came out with the soup and salad instead of like an appetizer. If the food was delivered with a little more order this would be 5.5 stars. Don’t stick to tourist food. Get out and find...
