La Costa — Restaurant in Baja California Sur

Unfortunately, my recent dining experience fell far short of expectations. I ordered the breaded shrimp, while my wife chose the fish fillet wrapped with shrimp. Regrettably, her dish arrived undercooked, which was deeply concerning.

The restaurant’s sanitation issues were impossible to overlook. The space was overrun with flies, which buzzed aggressively around the tables and even landed on our food. To compound matters, several birds lingered near the seating area, seemingly scavenging for leftovers. While I offered them a bit of food, their proximity to our plates added to the overall discomfort.

The restroom conditions were equally troubling. One of the urinals was leaking from the base, prompting the staff to place a bucket beneath it—a makeshift solution that felt unhygienic and poorly maintained.

Most alarmingly, my wife fell ill shortly after our meal, experiencing diarrhea and vomiting. We cannot overlook the possibility that this was linked to the undercooked food or unsanitary environment.

I shared feedback with the waitress, suggesting the use of fly deterrents. While I hope management takes these issues seriously, the combination of food safety lapses, pest problems, and neglected upkeep has left us with no desire to return. Update March 2023 . HORRIBLE experience all around. Bad service and food. Waited 45 minutes for our order, not only did they run out of wine during that time (we had only had 1 glass each), they also then said that they were just going to start 1 of 2 dishes we ordered! Asked for the check instead and for the kebabs to go...they were inedible. Ambience wasn't very nice either...music was way too loud, so were the drunken gringos. Never going back.

We ordered the chicken fingers and steak, and both were tender and moist. The steak came with delicious baked potato, the chicken with okay rice, both came with salad, which had a variety of vegetables in it, but no salad dressing.
