This is the first La Paz restaurant where I have become a true regular due to it's consistently delicious cuisine, its affordable options, the variety of options (including vegetarian and gluten-free), the clean bathrooms, the quiet ambiance, and the beautiful human beings who run the place. Does that say it all?
The owners are Luis, a nutritionist at the clinic next door to the restaurant, and Sury Sadday, who studied gastronomy and finance. They regularly give me Spanish lessons in the most joyful way possible, while simultaneously delighting my palate.
I'm hoping that Sury Sadday will soon provide cooking classes, especially for the Oaxacan and Puebla-style moles which are out of this world, as well as the very simple but delicious aguas frescas, tlayudas, tacos dorados, vegetales asada (she has a grilling technique that makes her grilled vegetables truly unique), lentil chorizo soup, chorizo corn empanadas, and even her fried rice is the best I've ever tasted. I'm happy to continue to eat her cooking for a long time to come, whether she offers classes...
Read moreWe really love this small family owned operation. The owners are a young couple and the recipes are very good. The mole is excellent and worth purchasing separately to take home and cook with if available.
The chilaquiles are excellent. I prefer the verde. We also appreciate that they can make a fresh agua fresca for us with fruit only and no added sugar. The owner is trained in nutrition and the family sources excellent quality ingredients. At times there will be naturally raised rabbit, pork, etc. available. I do not react to the cheese they source here unlike with other places I've eaten at in Mexico. I appreciate the effort they put into this.
I have tried the vegan chile rellenos and vegan mushroom omelet. Both are excellent. The omelet had a great texture and was very filling. I think the pricing here is very reasonable especially in light of the quality of the ingredients.
The patio is comfortable and shaded. This place was one of our favorite places to eat at in La Paz....

I have to echo the sentiments of many others in saying that the incredibly kind woman who runs the kitchen has a true gift for crafting authentic Mexican food that nourishes both body and soul. This is exactly what I seek when I travel— not just tacos, but real, heartfelt cuisine prepared by people who cook with passion.
My wife ordered the Mole de Pollo, while I had the Carne en su Jugo, and the flavors, the combinations— in a word, they were superb. Friends, you can find tacos anywhere, but if you want a meal that defies replication, this is the place...
