We went as part of a family vacation a few people in our party had been there before and said this were the best tacos simple no frills and delicious. As far as that yes they were awesome! Cash only so go prepare. Service from people prepping food was excellent and so was the person charging and giving you your drinks, even the person cleaning tables was great. However be ready for this we were waiting for tables to eat for sometime I should mentioned it was a large group some of us stood to eat and some needed to seat due to age and mobility issues. As we were eating an older man approached our tables and passed by mumbled in Spanish: You need to leave or are you staying all day... many in our group are bilingual so had no problem understanding him and couldn't believe he had said that to our group some even thought it was his age and maybe he wasnt all there anymore? We tried reporting the rudeness of this individual only to be told he is the Patron or owner in English. Mind you we waited in line like everyone else and then for space to eat and then we are been asked to leave? We had no opportunity to even order more food we had started with each one getting one of their famous tacos perrones and trying the quesadilla and after we needed to put up with this person who owns the place treating the people that feed him this way? We left never to comeback or recommendthis place. How is it our fault that you have not enough places to sit your customers or have the correct set up with all the space you have? Why do we need to put up with your moods and mistreatment? Tacos were good but not worth this. I feel bad for this place if the person that owns it treats his customers this way I can only imagine the treatment his employees put up with. Trust me this place is one of many that you will find along the beautiful city so no need to be mistreated we moved on and went and spend our money elsewhere. You should try Popotlan that was the best! So Tacos El Yaqui thanks but no thanks first have the owner learn manners on how to treat...
Read moreWhoever this Jackie person is, they are super famous. You’ll hear that name spoken all over town and for good reason, it’s Rosaritos most famous tacos. The epitome of a style that’s different than other famous places.
Something I think people don’t realize is that Tacos can be regional. Where in TJ the street taco rules, here in Rosarito the perrones rules. The main differences is the size of the tortilla is larger than normal (flour), it has beans (without cheese is the sencillos). The meat they use is aracherra or skirt steak grilled over mesquite instead of charcoal like al carbon. They only serve beef here, no carnitas, no adoabada, no pollo. They don’t really do a salsa, but have grilled jalapenos that when mixed with the other ingredients can mimic some of those flavors and textures.
It’s all shared, outdoor communal seating with about 2/3 of it covered (first come first serve). Service is good, but there is almost always a wait and depending on how ready they are the wait could be 5 minutes or 25 minutes.
The tacos are larger, but don’t be fooled with just 1, most people would be happy with 2. The prices are decent, but I’m not a filling guy, so the beans don’t elevate this for me. The steak is well cooked, marinated, flavorful, never dry. The guacamole is very good, the cheese and tortilla are excellent. Tender. The chew of the tortilla and the pull of the cheese along with the savory meat works well.
Having a nearby liquor store grab a case and make some friends while waiting in line. It’s a great place to lay down some base layer before you head to the beach to get buck...
Read moreBest Tacos in Rosarito!!! This is an iconic spot in Rosarito. Everyone knows it and everyone eats here. This is a mandatory everytime we visit Rosarito. There are some imposter spots but you have to visit this one. The carne asada is grilled over leña (wood) giving it an amazing flavor. The tacos here are mooe like open faced burritos because they are so HUGE!! Each taco is like eating 3 street tacos. They start with a delicious homemade flour tortilla and then melt cheese inside. They open it up and put the carne asada, frijoles de la olla (whole beans), cilantro, onion, guacamole and their delicious salsa. They have delicious roasted jalapenos they serve on the side. They have canned and bottled soda. They are following covid precautions so although they are outdoor everything is currently To go only. They are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They close at 4pm but don't rely on it because sometimes they sell out early. If you take photos or video the guys always get real animated and make it a great time. Let them know if its your first time and they will make you feel welcome. I promise you that you will love...
