NOTE: This is a review for the Cheester located close to Parque de las palapas. We visited this place for dinner after reading about this place on NewYork times. A great find indeed. As you walk in you are greeted by a bright yellow facade and tables covered with gingham style table clothes. We sat outdoors since the the weather was good. The place seems like a popular local restaurant with very few tourists visiting, since it's located in downtown Cancun and away from the hotel zone.
Our waiter didn't speak English so it was a great opportunity to practice my Spanish. But fear not, there is one waiter who does speak fluent English. Once we settled in, we were served some warm bread with a spicy habanero salsa. Very delicious! We decided to go with pasta and the waiter was very helpful providing his recommendations all along. Also, he suggested that we go with one order of pasta for two persons, since portion sizes were big. We really appreciated his gesture, of not trying to sell more than was required. The pasta was very tasty, made al dente, in true Italian style. Next time, would love to try the wood fired pizza. They looked delicious as well.

Read moreWe have been going to Cheester for years, because we enjoy the food there, and the portions are enormous! But last time we were very disappointed with the place, as the music was so loud that we couldn't even hear what the waiter was saying, let along each other. When we asked the stuff to turn the volume down, it was turned down for one song, and then cranked up again. It was obvious other people in the restaurant didn't enjoy that either - many came with their families. It was absolutely impossible to enjoy our time there, as we were forced to eat food just staring at each other, not able to...
