Pizza Satori — Restaurant in Chiapas

I’ve been a pizza nerd for quite some time now, and I always appreciate a nice Neapolitan pizza. I’ve been in Mexico for 6 months by now and I’ve never been drawn to any of the pizza places here, frankly I’ve only had a couple during my stay and I’ve never been impressed. But that’s okay, because even bad pizza is still pizza!

However Pizza Satori is worth a visit no matter what! It satisfied my pizza craving completely. The pizzas are baked in a stone oven (didn’t see if it was heated by gas or firewood), and the dough and crust was absolutely amazing. Many pizza places forget that this is the bread and butter of a good pizza. The dough has to be perfect, and I have to say Satori is very close to getting there. Only minus is that it can become a bit too “doughy” I’d make the crust a bit less prominent in order to reach that full Neapolitan style. Nonetheless, it’s not that easy.

The toppings are great and varied, as well as many different styles of pizza. We had the Satori, the Setas Y Cacao and the Huitlacoche. All three can be recommended, although I will definitely try the Cabra y Datiles...

This place is either a hit or miss. And when it’s a hit, it is up there with one of the best pizzas you’ve ever had or delicious foods you’ve put in your mouth.

When it’s a miss, it tastes so bad you just want to throw it away. One time when this happened the owner offered to make me a salad instead, which was kind. But that salad didn’t taste as good as the pizza when it’s at its best.

I don’t like how uneven the food can be. It makes me hesitate to go.

However, if you’d like to try this place out, I suggest going later at night. As all the “misses” I’ve had were closer to lunchtime. Either whoever is making the pizza or the heat of the oven could...

This place is located in the courtyard with Mooa Cafe, which do amazing drinks. Lots of options to alcohol, coffee and smoothies & juices. The staff were so nice & had such great service. There was lots of pizza options, and you got the option to create a half and half so you can try more then one. The prices are good for the quality of pizza you get, you can tell the toppings are fresh, and creative.
