La Gula — Restaurant in Guerrero

Our second dinner at La Gula to celebrate my wife's birthday in as many years. The food, as usual, was excellent. Prepared perfectly and very tasty. The bacon-wrapped shrimp over a bed of mushroom risotto was awesome, as was the seafood bisque.

The service at our table was good, but a little slow at times. Understandable because they had a very large group dining at the same time.

I emailed the restaurant in advance to make a reservation and Carlos took care of it for us. He even arranged for a small birthday cake for my wife, which was very thoughtful and delicious!

La Gula seems like a busy spot. I would recommend making a reservation. I paid with VISA, so I assume other major credit cards, USD, and of course Pesos...

We have been coming to Ixtapa for many years but we rarely eat in Ixtapa, preferring to try all the restaurants in Zihua. Last night Feb. 19 2020 we reserved for 5 people and to our delight everything was wonderful. The appetizer my husband and I chose were the black mussels. Best we've ever had. The main course was Pez Gordo. Mahi Mahi in cream cheese and (my mouth is still watering) was to die for. We topped it off with a decadent dessert. We have ate at a few places in zihuatanejo and this is was the best. I don't write reviews but I felt very compelled to do so. This place offers luxurious food and service but at very good price. You could tell the owner wanted to showcase love for her guests. The Margareta was the best I've had in mexico and I have been here 3 times. The service felt like a very fine dinning experience. The food was clean and very well thought of. This chef went to school forsure. No view of the bay but with this kind of food you don't need it. I Strongly recommend this...
