This place is OUTSTANDING. BBQ over a wood charcoal fire. Seating outside and very comfortable. 1 salad, 2 sides, 9 entrees, 5 desserts for a party of 2 adults, 3 teen boys and a tween girl. Really good Fettuccine Alfredo for my daugher...so good she ordered a second one intending to take whatever she didn't finish back to the hotel!
Mahi mahi, tuna steak, chicken with chorizo, pork chop, 13/15 count prawns stuffed with garlic-cream cheese and wrapped in bacon and pan finished with spices and olive oil -- all grilled to perfection.
You get 2 sides with every entree: Veges, buttery, well-seasoned mashed potatoes, rice, guacamole or baked potato. Had all of them except the baked potato, and they were all really good.
The owner's BBQ is right out on the street in plain view. The guy is a BBQ MASTER. I never eat pork chops because they are pretty much always dry and always bland. Not this one. Juicy and perfectly seasoned. My son ordered it because he wasn't feeling seafood today. By the time he was done, he was gnawing on the bone and asked to come back before we return home -- even though he was stuffed, his mouth was watering while talking about coming back and ordering it again (but this time with a double dose of the mashed potatoes).
They also serve a whole fish (usually red snapper), but you have to call and tell them the day before so the owner can call his friend and have to catch some. We already made reservations for tomorrow night to try it. They also have grilled octopus which you also have to ask about in advance.
The prices are very reasonable -- a meal of this quality and quantity in Seattle would cost more than twice as much.
Like most people, we love good food. This place has so much of it, I feel bad for small parties because they can't order enough to sample more than a few dishes.
Many of the hotel restaurants are good which makes it easy after long day in the sun to eat at the hotel and crash out...But don't. There is no question in my mind that if you are in Zihua, you have to eat at this place. 100% recommended with zero...
Read moreI had read the reviews before we went to Zihua, and really wanted to go. We had planned to go to another place one nigh and found out it was closed, so we wit to El Arrayan. When we arrived, my youngest son did not want to go, because all but one table were Gringo's. We were standing out in front of the restaurant debating to stay or go when a gentleman from Canada got up from his table and came over to us to let us know that the food was amazing. We stayed and we are so glad that we did. The food was so unbelievable. I got the whole fish. It was a beautiful fresh whole Red Snapper grilled on the grill by the owner on the sidewalk next to the restaurant. One son also got the whole fish. My wife ordered the grilled stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon and one son ordered the grilled steak. It is by far he best whole fish that I have ever had. it was Charred just enough with amazing spices, The grilled shrimp were over the top. My son loved his steak. All of the sides were fresh and you were able to order 2 of the sides of your choice. I had fresh vegetables and rice, but they had other options. We always order guacamole everywhere we go, searching for the ultimate Guac. While not the all time best, it was really good. We also split a Caesar salad that was perfectly prepared. The service was impeccable. The dining area is across a small street from the restaurant and the grill, but it was really nice because we were outside. The margaritas were fresh and handmade. Each beer came with a small paper napkin around the mouth of the bottle. I would definitely not miss this on a...
Read moreIf I have one regret from my visit to Zihua this year, it was not eating a full meal here. We stopped in purely because I love Sangria and someone told me they have the best..... and they were not wrong, their Sangria was good. We had already eaten dinner so we were not hungry, but we did nibble on a quesadilla and some chips and salsa with our drinks. We had walked passed this restaurant during the day, sometimes 2x a day back and forth to our hotel and never stopped to check the menu. Mainly I think because it is on a side street away from the main part of town and restaurants. Mistake...... At night for dinner they have tables on both sides of the street and the owner cooks on a grill lots of fresh fish and meats. Darn we missed out! Next time we will check it out for sure! But I can vouch for the Sangria...
