Green Verde — Restaurant in Isla Mujeres

I was disappointed in this restaurant, especially because it had such good reviews, and it was more expensive than other local restaurants here in Isla Mujeres. We were short on pesos, so I elected to get the chicken with red Molé sauce instead of the salmon with hibiscus sauce. My chicken came and looked nice, but was very tough. I attempted to eat some, and then the waiter came around to ask us how we liked everything. I confessed that my chicken was tough. And he seemed confused. After some back-and-forth, he said it was cooked well done. I said it was not good for me, and so he took it away. I thought he would bring another plate cooked less well or offer me a different meal, but he did neither. Finally, I went up to the counter and asked to get a Mexican salad instead. He took that order and brought it to me. I thought everything was OK, but when the bill came, he had charged me for both dinners. I argued with him about it. I was so appalled that any restaurant would do that after having the food sent back. I guess the culture is just different in Mexico. Our family had an absolutely fantastic time at this restaurant — easily one of the highlights of our trip! As vegetarians, we were thrilled to find such a wide variety of delicious vegetarian options at the restaurant, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. The guacamole, in particular, was hands-down the best we’ve ever had — perfectly seasoned, creamy, and unforgettable.

What really made the experience extra special was the incredible service. Rafael, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was so warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly — even our 8-month-old was charmed by him! Rafael took the time to engage with our family, making sure we had everything we needed and creating such a positive, joyful atmosphere.

My sister dish the vegetable omelette was light yet hearty, packed with fresh ingredients that showcased the kitchen's commitment to quality. The dish I had I believe was the huaraches with steak and tasted phenomenal.
