Bananas — Restaurant in Jalisco

Every time we stay in Manzanillo we take a trip to Barra just to eat at Bananas. We have a few favourite dishes when we come here, yet everything we have ever tried here is delicious. My favourites are Molletes (fresh bolillo with refried beans and cheese on top, served with pico de gallo and salsa roja) and the Banana Pancakes. I'm not even a pancake person, yet I love their pancakes!

Today we tried a new dish on their menu, the Poblano Omelette, and it was to die for! Poblanos, mushrooms and corn were inside, plus it was topped with a tasty poblano cream sauce. This was served with hashbrowns, warm corn tortillas and toasted bolillos which gave lots of different options for different bites.

They serve breakfast until noon and then they open up later on for dinner. The breakfast menu has so many delicious items, it will be hard for you to choose... Mexican breakfast specialties, combos with eggs, burritos, assorted pancakes and French toasts. To top it all off, the view is spectacular! Make the trip out here even if it is out...

We've now been to Bananas for breakfast a couple of times and each time it was excellent. It's in a great location right on the beach. If you are lucky you can watch the rays jumping out of the water.

The chilaquiles were good, but the service was lackluster at best, without a "Buen provecho," "Gracias" or even a single smile. The only moment of levity: when I realized the staff t-shirts all said "Yo ❤ mi trabajo" ("I ❤ my job"). I had to stifle my chuckles. And the #1 restaurant in Barra on Tripadvisor?!...
