Campomar — Restaurant in Jalisco

This is an amazing casual seafood restaurant in the heart of Colonia Chapalita, a few steps away from the Jardín del Arte Glorieta Chapalita where artists display their works on weekends.

I was there with a group on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed with lots of families, couples, friends, etc.

We were started off with drinks (they have soft drinks, aguas frescas, coffee, and what appeared to be a full bar.) I got the limonada which was just perfect and served in a large metal glass. They also brought out complimentary tostadas, salsa, and pickled cucumber appetizers.

The menu is quite extensive with all kinds of seafood. I chose the shrimp "zarandeados" (that literally translates as "shaken," but they seemed to be grilled), and served with grilled pineapple and a side of rice. It was way too generous a portion for me, so I could not eat it all ...though I wanted to! Delicious! All my party's entrees looked great. The service was excellent too.

The restaurant has open sides as if it were a large covered patio, but they rolled down some clear plastic tent-like walls when the wind picked up as a storm came near.

The atmosphere was fun and a bit loud. With all the noise it was just a bit hard for me to hear the conversation well at my table, but it was manageable. I recognized a few songs they were playing, hits from the '80's, some ABBA, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston... Nice!

They have valet parking, which I recommend, as otherwise it may be difficult to find a spot during peak times.

I will definitely return when I get the opportunity.

El servicio estuvo inigualable! We came in on a Sunday morning, some of us hungover AF looking to cut the cruda. We were promptly seated, taken care of by what felt like no less than a 5 man crew. A wonderful server came by with some consomé de camarón that was the perfect start to a delicious sit down meal. El agua de piña con menta is highly recommended and I had a wonderful coctel de camarón with a wonderful Worcestershire sauce flavor. My partner had the camarones a la diabla that were the perfect size, temp, and flavor. I can’t recommend Campomar and their service enough. Simply phenomenal.

Campomar is so far the best Sea food restaurant experience in Guadalajara. You will like everything in the menu. The service and attention it's overwhelming. Try the tostadas with serrano powder that are in your table basket, what about the marlin sample as a welcome snack? Fabulous! The glass bottled water with a rosemary leaf in it, superb! Campomar is full of surprises and excellent options even for the most picky eater. Every time we travel to Guadalajara it's in our "to do list" my husband likes a lot the Coconut shrimps and I love the tuna tostada...to die for! 🤤
