La Cevi, Marina Vallarta — Restaurant in Jalisco

Went here for dinner.. We ordered the Fried Red Snapper and they brought out a Fried Tilapia. When I asked the server about it, he said it's not a red snapper but a regular snapper and they don't serve tilapia there. It's obviously a tilapia (added a picture to my review) and you can see the distinguishing tail fin and small mouth. Snapper has a bigger mouth and a v-shaped tail fin. We ate it as we didnt care of the type of fish. Another reviewer mentioned the same issue with them receiving a different fish. Would be totally fine if they just tell you up front when you order that they're out of red snapper and have a different fish available.

We also ordered the Fried Calamari and it was hard to chew. We ended up returning it. I did ask for another and the server said that this is the way they make it here so if I ordered the same dish, it'll be the same issue.

We ordered the Octopus Ceviche which is not specifically on their menu but they can make it. It was good but felt like it was missing something. The flavors didn't blend well somehow but we couldn't point out what was off.. octopus was nice and soft.

This is an easy walk from our hotel as many other restaurants along the marina Vallarta. We got the saffron rice with seafood fresh tuna tostada. The seafood tasted really good and the fresh tuna didn’t have an overwhelming raw flavor, which is a surprise. Recommend getting a table inside where it’s cooler and you can avoid any cigarette smoke while you eat. The service was decent although they cleaned up Our dishes the second we finished our bite and didn’t really leave any room to wait around. I felt a bit rushed. To the owner. If you are reading this please let us know if you have changed your policy on cleaning/de-veining your shrimp as we would love to come back.

Although the staff is very nice and accommodating.. They do not clean/remove the veins (poop) from their shrimp!!!! noooooo. ask anyone you know if they would eat at a restaurant that serves un-deviened shrimp!!
