This is actually my first time reviewing a place online as I never get around to doing it but was just really disappointed and it needed to be done.
We have been to Mexico many times, we had just come from Wahaka (which might be the problem as the food is incomparable there).
We flew in from Mexico City and come for dinner at around 2015pm. Myself and my girlfriend were both extremely excited as what we had read online and been told about the place but what an absolute disappointment…. Everyone seems so miserable and unhelpful from the lady who greets you at the front who assume is a manger of sorts to every single waiter, no one says hello, it seems like you are an inconvenience for being there and when you ask for food recommendations on the menu it’s an effort to give you some, what a joke of a place!
I was expecting this authentic rustic Mexican place with incredible food but that is far from what it is, this is like a chain commercial americanised restaurant and it’s very sad!
To be honest the food was okay, edible, good portions sizes and not badly priced but they service and just the people are the saddest part about that place! Haven’t experienced service that poor in a long time especially not in Mexico!
Just because they feed you with free chips and salsa and give you a complimentary shot at the end doesn’t make it a good place!
Anyway, thanks for the meal, definitely won’t be back or...
Read moreMy wife and myself visited Victors this a.m. Seated at the back away from the street. Ordered tea and coffee and sat for the next 20 minutes waiting for some one to take our order. This did not happen. Paid 40 pesos for our drinks and left. That was our breakfast at Victors. Another couple also left prior to us for lack of service. Yes the restaurant was about 1/3 full but that was no reason for such poor service. Day number 15 here in Puerto Vallarta to first experience this poor service and of course will not go back.
An update January 3rd 2019. Because of friends knowing "Victor" for many years we returned this evening and left feeling we had a very good meal even thou this was market night at the marina. Very attentive service by the staff. An excellent meal was served, the 4 shots of tequila helped, and the complementary glasses of Kalua sent us on our way knowing that "we will return".
Update: November 9, 2023. As Victor is no longer with us it’s nice that the restaurant still retains the name “Victors Place”. Nothing has changed, a free shot of Tequila and the meal ending with Kailua on ice. The staff and service is excellent. The only thing missing is a free bottle of Tequila if Victor liked you...
Read moreGreat place! Was in town for business and some coworkers recommended this place, and I’m so happy they did! Very important note- * CASH only!!* That’s probably one of the ways they keep their prices so reasonable. This place was everything you’re looking for in a restaurant: Indoor - Outdoor seating overlooking the boats in the marina. Friendly staff that kept everything clean. The margaritas were great! (Around $8 US) but huge! They had many flavors- I went with regular on the rocks but in retrospect maybe should have tried the pineapple. Next time!
I was feeling a little more adventurous for my meal, and again, had coworkers recommendations to follow, so I had the grilled garlic octopus for dinner, and it was very tasty! Came with a little garlic mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, and fruit garnish. One of my dinner companions had the garlic shrimp, which were amazing, and would highly recommend. Other dinner companions had the Surf n Turf and the combination #2. All was delicious!
The brought a round of complimentary after- dinner drinks made with baileys and cream, I believe. Which were a lovely touch on a really good and fun meal.
Would highly recommend a visit to Victor’s next time you’re in Puerto...
