Wow! What a gem! I will tell everyone that comes to GDL to try this delicious restaurant.
From the cafe de olla being incredible as is, to the food, to the atmosphere - this place is a must. I’m so glad I had a friend take me here!!
The coffee was delightful, hints of chocolate and cinnamon as I was sipping 😍 I didn’t expect it and was so grateful. They also had a selection of regular or carbonated kombucha that I tried. The two meals we shared - quesadilla and encotijada - blew me away. I wish I could have ordered them both again. And my friend has tried most things on the menu and says they’re all just as good.
Allergy wise - they use blue corn tortillas, which were delicious! I was surprised since flour is so much more common in Mexican food but also grateful! If you’re allergic to lactose - being lactaid! It’s worth it!!
Also, it was super fun sitting at the long family style table. But I’d say look at the typical traffic time because there were rarely more than two spots available together while we were there.

Read moreThis place is a real gem. Spotted it at the entrance of this market and it was full of people at 2pm for lunch. Good fast service. A small, well-designed menu of flavorful and simple yet interesting dishes. I had a quesadilla with squash blossom and that distinctive Mexican ingredient, huitlacoche (a type of corn fungus). Normally, the flowers get cooked but here keep them raw which added a freshness to the quesadilla. It paired well with the spicy, smoky table salsa ranchera. I also tried chicken in a red sauce I’d never heard of. It was paired with white bean, radish, pickled onion, and purslane. Another brilliant assortment of flavors. Spicy, crispy radish. The astringent pickle. The warm earthiness of the white bean. The green, spinach-like taste of the purslane. It all played so well with the chicken in the sauce along with handmade blue...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting Guadalajara and went to try this spot for a late breakfast. It is a food stall in a charming market where there are other small restaurants. Yunaites is however an “elevated” version of traditional local dishes. The place is popular and we had to wait for space at the large communal table, but the wait gave us the chance to explore the market and get a few things. The service and food were exceptional. We were eleven of us so we had the chance to order most of the items on the menu and everything was delicious. However, our favorites were the cotijada, gordita de mole, and the quelites. Overall this is an incredible place for the price and it surpassed all of our expectations. I would...
