El Fondue — Restaurant in Mérida

I am from switzerland (birthplace of fondue) but i live in mérida. I went there to have a nice dinner with my family. Since the reviews were outstanding good, we choose this place. Sadly this place deserve only 1 star. Those are the reasons:

you enter the restaurant and a super strong and ugly scent greets you. I dont know if it‘s scent sticks or room fraigrances. But its so strong that it burns in the throat. This should not be in a restaurant or fondue place. in the corner were they sat us down, the wall was full of black mold. (This builds up over a long time). I know merida is a humid place. But this is not aceptable. This amount of black mold is disgusting and bad for the health. we tried 2 differrent fondues and i‘m sorry to say. They were ugly. They taste super acid and were liquid like water. Also the cheese itself tastes bad. The bread was super greasy. We couldn‘t eat it. when we wanted to pay the waiter told us that it‘s cash only. They need to tell this in advance!!!

Please! Avoid this place. The reviews are either fake or not for this restaurant.

And if there restaurant wants, they cab reach out to me and i can tell them how to prepare a real fondue, with the ingredients you can...

As this was my 1st Fondu ever, it is hard to lay some groundwork. Service was very Good. Selection of types of Fondu based on countries was huge. Flavor of the 3 types of Fondu for 2 couples shared was Good, the bread was Fresh and plentiful. Prices are presumed based on the cost of importing the cheeses. Fui con mi pareja porque buscábamos un lugar tranquilo y romántico para tener una de las conversaciones más importantes sobre nuestro futuro. Y cada 3 minutos o menos la mesera y luego un señor que asumo es el dueño, iban a la mesa por cualquier pretexto. La verdad fue muy incómodo y molesto tanta interrupción en un lugar que invita a la privacidad e intimidad. Más que luego el dueño se acercó a hacer chistes fuera de contexto de que sí pedimos caldo y panuchos. De plano le tuve que pedir ya molesto que por favor nos interrumpieran lo menos posible. En vez de disculparse, salió respondón el señor y ya para cuándo le pedí la cuenta, en vez de disculparse, solo fue y aporreó la cuenta, pésimo servicio peor aún del dueño. El fondue bueno, pero nada extraordinario. Me decepcionó sobretodo el pan. Vil bolillo de súper cortado en trocitos. El lugar y el ambiente están padres, pero en el area dónde estuve me tocó ver una cucharacha caminando en el suelo. No, no...
