Habaneros is not just another taco joint—it's a must-visit destination and one of the most popular places in Mérida for anyone craving authentic Yucatecan flavors. Read moreOnce one of our favorite restaurants in Merida Yucatan has become a thing of the past.
I've been coming to habanero since 2019. And I've been visiting over the years as I've been living in Mexico and back in the States as well. Unfortunately I have to say this was probably our worst experience that we've ever had. The valet parking was not attentive and we left our car in the road for about 10 minutes until we found somebody to valet park it. Upon entering the restaurants they did not provide us the card to fill out our salsa preferences and we actually have to ask for it.
The salsa eventually came which was okay and the tortillas which I've noticed are no longer moist they're very dry and they've changed their recipe. I really miss those earthy flavors that came in the tortilla but they are just a little bit better what you can get from a neighborhood tortilla stand.
There was one waitress who is not attentive to our table at all never asked us about refills when our glasses were empty and she was serving others over us when we came in prior to other people and other people who arrived before us were getting their food 10 to 15 minutes sooner than us. Completely unorganized.
Additionally we've noticed that stuffing in the food and fillings have reduced I would call it shrinkflation and also one big thing that stood out to me with the cochinita chilaquiles is that the meat was very dry and poorly seasoned. The only thing I tasted in my dish was beans and corn chips there's absolutely no flavor to the rest of the plates. My mother her husband and my wife all agree that their dishes were below expectation based on past...
Read moreThis review is written based on our visit to Habaneros in November 2022. My wife and I were looking for a place to take some friends and our Spanish teacher out for a nice dinner. We had been to this Habaneros approximately one year early on our 1st visit to Mérida. We found the service to be outstanding and all the staff to be outstanding.
My wife sent a text message to their contact number on WhatsApp asking if we needed to make a reservation. The restaurant immediately responded letting her know we didn’t need a reservation and adding a warm welcome back to the restaurant.
Upon our arrival at Habaneros we were met with the customary greeting at the door by a young lady with an warm smile on her face.
We found the food and service to be as good if not better than our visit the previous year. Habaneros is known for their freshly made Mayan food and they have continued that same tradition.
You know how they say the “Save the best for last”, well I want to let everyone reading this review know that the service was the best. We had a server named Oscar and another young gentleman that I did not get his name.
These two young gentlemen are golden assets to Habaneros. They are both bilingual, they are young, but their professional mannerisms is that of a seasoned veteran.
The gentlemen are everything and more that any business wants representing their brand and their name. I can only say that the parents of these two young men would be very proud of the way their sons were on this night. I would definitely recommend you visit Habaneros as a 5 stars establishment and these gentlemen are provided 5...
