Pancho Maíz is a true gem for anyone looking to experience authentic Yucatecan flavors in a modern yet tradition-filled setting. The restaurant beautifully blends the charm of regional culture with a contemporary touch, creating an atmosphere that feels both inviting and genuine.
The cuisine is simply outstanding—every dish bursts with flavor, staying true to Yucatecan roots while being thoughtfully prepared and perfectly portioned. Prices are more than reasonable, making it a fantastic spot to enjoy high-quality food without breaking the bank.
The service deserves special mention: a young, energetic, and passionate staff that not only provides warm and attentive service but also shares their deep knowledge about the origin and traditions behind each dish. This adds a unique cultural dimension to the meal, making the experience not just about eating, but about learning and connecting with Yucatán’s rich culinary heritage.
It’s also a great destination for a light lunch, especially if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic meal that still feels indulgent. The serving sizes strike the perfect balance: enough to satisfy, but not overwhelming, allowing you to fully enjoy the richness of the flavors without feeling heavy afterward.

Read moreWe are Mexican, and this restaurant caters to foreigners,Mexican people get served last. We ordered a dip, and 2 entrees. The dip, sikil pac , came with a huge cavity in the bowl, it looked like someone's leftovers, or maybe they tasted it. It was plated poorly, and very expensive for the tiny portion. We returned it politely, and had at 3 different explanations 1) that's the portion size: 2) they put oil there, and it absorbed (canola), 3): that's the presentation. The employees are like being in a horror movie, slow service, rude and ignorant,. They told us WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE DISH, even though we didn't touch it, and returned it right away. We refused, they then told us we had to leave and they wouldn't serve us. They did not try to remedy the situation at all. The food here is very expensive, and low quality. The chef (if I can call him that?), has a huge EGO.. , and we saw them re-serving leftovers to people. The restaurant is located in a dirty place, with peeling lead paint on the walls, bathroom is filthy. Why can't they clean the place? The bathrooms are scary. Overrated,...
Read moreThis place has been on my list for years, and I'm not sure why it took us so long to visit, but I'm glad we finally did! We walked from our house, arriving around 8:30 am, and the restaurant was about half full. We got a table right under a nice fan, which was perfect. The service was prompt - we were seated and given menus right away. We both ordered cold brew coffees, and for our meals, my wife chose the huevos rancheros while I went with a pork sandwich. Both dishes were excellent, but I have to say, my sandwich was out of this world! It bacon, ham, and an egg stuffed between sourdough bread with baked cheese on top. Probably a million calories, so I’m glad I was able to walk part of it off on the 40 minute walk home. The portions were generous (my wife couldn’t even finish hers), and nicely presented. The cold brew coffee was also excellent, and the service was professional and friendly, with English spoken if necessary. Considering the quality of the food, the prices were quite reasonable, totaling $490 before tip. Credit cards are...
