Utter humiliation!! For 3 years I have used Porfirios as the first night welcome to Merida dinner location. The optics and aesthetics are appeasing regardless of decline of customer service and the high turnover of personnel. My experience on July 3rd was horrible and will surely be the last time. going to the establishment. The restaurant which sales cigars which I have purchased on several occasions and even hosted my team’s Christmas party at despite their poor customer service. The restaurant consist of three sections, smoking area being the middle section. I decided to have a celebratory cigar for the arrival of a new team member who flew in from Tucson, AZ. The waiter noticed my cigar in hand and brought a cigar ashtray over to the table. After a few moments the manager came over to the table stating my cigar was too strong for the area. I asked the manager if he smoked cigar because clearly he didn’t know what he was talking about. I witnessed the table across from us speaking to the manager prior to him walking over to the table. The manager then requested that my guest and I move to the patio. In an attempt not to soil the night I asked my guest if he mine sitting on the patio knowing it would be filled with mosquitoes. Made reservations on Open table and noted a special occasion. I then later called the restaurant to confirm the reservation and again mentioned Anniversary celebration and asked to be seated by the bar. Arriving the hostess took us directly to back of restaurant. Since I thought it was very pretty and the place empty I did not complaint. Usually the music seems louder in the back. Reason for asking to be seated by bar. The server was very nice and the captain of service very nice but there service was very bad, took forever for our drinks for 4 people. My 2 out of 3 drinks taste watery the 3rd drink was the best only because I complained. Others in my party of 4 had watery drinks also or complained that the beers were hot. We all would of drank more if the service was better. We had to keep looking for the server or the head server for drinks and food. I ordered a ribeye that I had to struggle to cut and chew, the others all had a small complaint of their food also. This place was one of our favorite place to go to and always take visitors and birthdays there. The place is always consistent in great food and great service. But last Friday we had the worst service and food. And we were not even asked about our special occasion. For the price you pay it must be consistent! Very very disappointed. Came here as part of my last day of my trip dinner. I came with my daughter and her boyfriend who are both a very light complexion. However, I am of a dark skinned complexion and was very disappointed in how I was treated. We all ordered the same dish, Steak. Upon receiving my Steak both the waiter and the manager came to me and asked me to cut my steak and asked me if it was to my liking, which I replied “yes”. The manager then proceeded to take a picture of my steak with the flash. The manager did not take a picture of my daughter’s steak nor her boyfriend’s steak. I also did not see him take a picture of anyone else’s food. Did they think I was going to return it or complain? I am very disappointed and feel like they demonstrated prejudice due to my skin tone. The food was tasty and atmosphere very nice, but not at the price of feeling embarrassed and humiliated in front of people.
