Wayan'e — Restaurant in Mérida

This place used to be outstanding and I honestly feel they’re going downhill, the only thing that’s still really good is the castacán with cheese torta, this is a personal opinion of course but to me all of the other options are just not up to the standards they used to have. My girlfriend ordered papa con chorizo tacos and they were cold and looked like a paste, also the service was not that good, only one young lady was kind, the rest didn’t seem to be willing to be there. Good prices, but I don't get what the other people are talking about here, the meat is average across the board pretty much, and there's not much else that's included with the tacos. The salsa is fresh but out on tables with a lot of flies and that would most likely be the reason I got sick after coming here. (Note: I have been to Mexico over 10 times in various places and this was the first place that I got sick from). A real bummer to get sick from a place that's only selling point is the cheapness...

The service was very friendly and quick. We showed up around 11 am and there was a little rush but we didn't have to wait long for a seat. The waitress pulled up an extra stool for us and we got the front row view of the guys working the grill. We're from Dallas and get great tacos at home... but these tacos blew our minds! There was a convivial man singing and joking around who made some excellent suggestions. The lima with Chaya was also super cold...
