Café Vegetal — Restaurant in Mexico City

First of all, the servers were so nice and polite. I thank them for their kindness. They were very attentive and prompt. And even in the end, when I asked for a box for my leftovers, one of them offered to do it for me.

Food was excellent. I don’t normally love tofu scramble but this one surprised me. I got the full breakfast. I just feel very safe in vegan cafes, not having to double and triple check on menu items. We all have the same agenda.

Perhaps it was my lack of sleep or I am secretly an old person deep inside (or my ADHD): The only thing that could have been more pleasant was the volume. I was first sitting outside, and this dude started playing the guitar à meter away from me. And it was a very sharp playing. So I went inside to get some distance from him, but now the cafe sounds were mixing with the sharp guitar notes. I opened my laptop, but I couldn’t find the Wi-Fi username. I thought to ask the girl in front for help but my brain was already in a chaos from all the noise, so I just ate my food. I had really been looking forward to soft cafe vibes. But at this point, I just wanted to finish my meal and get out of there.

🛫 When my husband and I arrived in CDMX, Cafe Vegetal was our second restaurant stop, and boy, were we in for a treat!

☕️ First things first, the place itself is super cute, adding a warm touch to the experience. But let's talk about the conchas – my main reason for visiting. They absolutely lived up to the hype!

🥖 The sweet bread? Oh, it's a dream. My husband couldn't get enough of the cinnamon rolls, and while the coffee might not be the best I've had, it definitely gets the job done.

🍽️ Now, onto the food. The portions are generous and the flavors are simply delicious. The breakfast dishes, in particular, are a standout – they make for the perfect morning feast.

🍰 My second time around, I decided to try the chocolate cake. Sadly, it turned out a bit dry for my taste. But don't let that dampen your spirits, because everything else on the menu is top-notch.

No me gusta dejar una reseña negativa, pero he notado un declive en la calidad y me gustaría que hubieran cambios.

Conocí Café Vegetal hace ya dos años y me encanto todo: el menú totalmente vegano que no solo tiene buenas porciones, pero también precios accesibles, buen sabor y PROTEÍNA, no solo platillos donde la proteína la reemplazan por más masa, grasa o verdura, como en muchos lugares suelen hacer. El café también me parece riquísimo, me encanta que su leche de soya deja el latte cremoso y con un saber dulce pero sin exagerar. Sus panes dulces y pasteles también, super ricos, en especial el rol de canela y el pastel de chocolate con crema de almendra. Hubo un punto donde iba una vez a la semana mínimo a desayunar, los paquetes son excelente opción.

Pero la realidad es que estos últimos meses, mis experiencias han sido malas. Las filas de espera para comer en el local los fines de semana por la mañana son eternas, a tal grado de qué ya ni ganas me dan de ir a desayunar ahí. Incluso cuando el local no esta lleno, el servicio es lento y las bebidas calientes muchas veces llegan tibias.

Lo peor es cuando pides a domicilio. Ya me había pasado que la entrega tarda, pero estas dos ultimas veces se toman desde 1hr a 1hr y media en tan solo preparar el pedido. Sé que el problema no es el repartidor, porque he visto en las aplicaciones que es la cocina la que tarda una hora en tener listo el pedido (vivo a 1km del establecimiento, la entrega siempre es rápida).

Hoy que hice un pedido, volvieron a tardar una hora. Bueno, eso ya lo esperaba, pero lo que me pareció hasta cínico es la manera en la que me entregaron el paquete, parece que guardaron mi comida con los ojos cerrados. La ensalada estaba chorreando y casi rompiendo la bolsa de abajo, y cuando abro el contenedor de la comida, el sandwich deshecho y la col revuelta por doquier.

Noto que los precios han subido, pero las porciones han bajado y la calidad es inconsistente. También cambiaron de empaques para su entrega a domicilio, los otros mantenían la comida más ordenada y no dejaban que se pasaran las salsas o líquidos a otras partes. No sé si solo les hace falta más personal, mejor organización, pero estas últimas veces que visito o pido a domicilio me quedo decepcionada, tanto que por eso he dejado de frecuentar tanto el lugar.
