Colmena Suites — Hotel in Mexico City

This accommodation is presented as coliving, but the reality is quite different. It is an ordinary hostel with small and dark rooms, dirt, non-functional facilities and staff who do not speak English.

In the photos you see the most beautiful room, tidy, well photographed with a lens that magnifies the room.

We booked our accommodation for a month. Upon arrival we were given a small dark room on the first floor, next to the laundry room. The room had a bed, a nightstand, a bookshelf and a small desk and a tiny sink. When we put our backpacks in the room, there was virtually no room to move. The bathroom was a one meter by one meter room that had no door. A green plank serves in place of a door, with a hole at the top and bottom. If you want to go to the toilet, you have to get in the shower, close the door and sit on the toilet. Unfortunately, there was no toilet seat in the toilet, and the shower didn't run water. Neither hot nor cold. Just a stream of water running down the wall.

Dirty towels, an old mattress and a skylight window only added to the slum atmosphere.

The hallways were also filthy, most of the rooms had no windows or were windows to indoor areas. It's dark, cold, damp. Really very uncomfortable.

After a full day of troubleshooting, airbnb helped us get our money back and we took a taxi to the hotel.

Definitely do not recommend it. Find a hostel in the city center and go work in a coworking...

Good place for a longer stay. I was in Mexico for two weeks and the hotel Colmena turned out to be a great choice. The rooms are bright and clean. The bathroom too. It's cleaned every day. The kitchen is large and very well equipped. The only thing I didn't like was the bathroom door, because it has large gaps at the bottom and top. But I could live with it 😄 It's also quite loud, because the hotel is on a busy street. But the whole city is generally very loud, so you just have to get used to it 😄 the hotel staff is very nice and there is no problem with contact. The location is also good. ¡el personal es muy agradable! nuestra habitación tiene su propio baño y otra habitación con escritorio. la vista es linda con un balcón que también se puede disfrutar. La habitación estaba muy limpia. Las duchas pueden llegar a estar muy calientes si se desea.

La zona de la cocina es utilizada por todos. Me gusta mucho la zona común que es ideal para familias. Fue agradable ver niños lindos y hablar con gente de todo el mundo. La cocina está equipada con al menos 8 quemadores de gas, licuadora, todos los utensilios y utensilios de cocina, una mesa grande y bonita y un televisor grande.
