Chubbies Polanco — Restaurant in Mexico City

Recently tried this location after a good experience at the Roma location. This is located in a sports park. Had the single cheeseburger smashed with onions, 6pc boneless, and extra fries. Very similar order I had previously. It’s counter service at the window. I’m going to knock off a star. The burger seemed more dry than the one in Roma, even though I asked for the smashed onions. The one in Roma was cheesy and gooey, quite hot. This one just wasn’t as impressive. Very little onion flavor considering I asked for the onion smash as offered. The chicken didn’t seem to be as good or consistent cuts. Sauces are okay. The Chubbies secret sauce is a standard burger sauce. I’m a purist, but the sauce pares well with the burger. You receive a tiny portion of pickles separately which are quite good. You also get the same tiny size of charred jalapeño slices which are almost addicting. Their fries are the tough jacketed British style which are well made for that style, but they are a bit tough. Even though they gave me a couple of extra packets of ketchup, I still ran out. Overall I think Chubbies is a solid basic smash burger and fries. Good value considering the location here. It works better as takeaway...

Terrible burgers and service.

The quality of the bun is very basic, it’s not toasted. Meat feels low quality and has no flavor. Cheese tastes like it’s supermarket’s Kraft square packaged cheese (I worry it actually is).

There is no service, but they still ask you for a tip. When I said no, since I am standing to order, they proceeded to charge my card in USD with an extra 9% service charge without asking me.

Please avoid this place, the only redeeming quality was that the pickles were OK, that’s hard to mess up I suppose.

Just go to Shake Shack or better yet...

Vine a cenar y sí tengo varios puntos: Ha cambiado muchísimo. Mi novio y yo amábamos Chubbies desde que sólo tenían take out en la roma sur. Íbamos muy seguido y eran deliciosas. Las hamburguesas que nos comimos estaban MUY saladas, SÚPER pimentadas. Perdieron la costra que las hacía smashburger. Entiendo que sigue siendo parte dark kitchen PERO genuinamente es lentísimo. Estuvimos esperando 25 minutos por las hamburguesas. Pedimos un chicken sandwich de Korean BBQ (esperando actual Korean BBQ) no un frasco con salsa y la pechuga empanizada. Debería de traer la salsa / estar marinada en. Eso de echarle a cada mordida? Pedí una malteada de Cookies and Cream. No es una malteada barata. Estaba verdaderamente asquerosa, sabía a coco (a tal punto que sabía a jabón) de verdad intomable. No le di más de DOS sorbos. Tan así, que fui a revisar que es lo que tenía (para ver si tenía algo de coco, que NO) y al comentarle a la cajera solo me dijo “una disculpa” después de haberme cobrado $110 pesos por esa cosa horrible. Creo que para futuras ocasiones al menos regresen el dinero jajaja.

La neta es que es triste ver como un lugar que era MUY bueno en su momento descuido todo lo que hace especial / que valga la pena.

No vamos a regresar, y seguiremos en busca de buenas smash...
