This is a review specifically for people who are about to make a reservation at this hotel. |I am going to highlight my experience and you make your own decision.|My wife and I are just getting ready to go to Mexico City for a ten-day vacation. As usual, we made or flight plans and after extensive search decided to reserve Pug Seal Polanco Anatole France Hotel. It is by far not the most economical place, but after reading reviews we decided to go with it. We made reservation on Booking.com. It specifically said on our reservation “you don’t pay anything till you get to the property” Sounded really good. And then it started. I received and email from the property that said: |Thank you very much for choosing Pug Seal Anatole France for your stay in Mexico City.|We write you this message because we would like to discuss our reservation policy with you. With any reservation over $2,500 USD, the guest can only complete and confirm the reservation with an advance 50% down payment of the total reservation. It is important to mention that this payment is non-refundable in case of cancellation or modification of the reservation.|We know that since this is an international transaction it can be a bit complicated but please ask us about our different options in order to complete this process and guarantee your reservation.|If you wish you can contact us for more information or to clarify any doubts. Call us at +52 55 6467 9964 or send us an email to complete your reservation.|We look forward to any questions or comments. |That didn’t sound right to me and I called Booking Customer Service and after an hour and a half on the phone, they resolved (or so I thought) the problem and even sent me an email conformation stating that I do not have to pay anything till I get to the property.|Two days later at 11:45 pm, basically midnight, I get WhatsApp message from Pug Seal Polanco Anatole France repeating the same demand about 50% prepayment. One can only imagine how upset and disturb I was. |Next morning, I communicated with them and sent them Booking conformation, but they still insisted on prepayment. At the end they wanted to charge my card that I posted on Booking.|Useless to say, I said no. I went back on Booking.com, reserved another very comparable and in some regards better hotel for a better price. And of course, canceled the dreaded reservation with Pug Seal Polanco Anatole France.|Please be aware of unfair practices Pug Seal Polanco Anatole France is doing. I understand that every business has it’s polices, but when you work with a company like Booking.com, they should adhere to their rules. Read moreIt's a nicely decorated, luxury small hotel. We stayed 3 nights. I think we had one of the larger, more expensive rooms, right on the ground floor with an outdoor garden and seating area. It seems all of the ground floor rooms are situated around the front desk, hence the problem. You will hear lobby conversation, especially from the front desk staff, and they play music just off the lobby. I had to ask one time to change the music because the were playing techno/dance? music which translated into our room as just bass and drums. But, and this is the real reason for a mediocre review, on one night they hosted what I would estimate as 50-75 people in the lobby extending into the breakfast dining area behind for a reception featuring the same music, but very loud. It went until 11p, and I'd guess it started around 6p. We are talking right outside our and others' doors. Again, pounding bass and drums, and crowd noise. The reception to whom I WTF inquired said it's only on Thursdays. So beware. But very unprofessional. Do you want to be a luxury hotel or a night club? I've stayed in hotels where there's a bar on the ground floor or roof, not ideal always but I get it, but outside of guests' rooms? They should comp every guest who stayed there that night. I think, just speculating, that this place is somewhat corporate chic and that there are just staff running the place and not any sort of hotelier. Wouldn't stay there again.
