Sonora Grill — Restaurant in Mexico City

We ordered a fish seasoned in a red sauce, along with a pasta with Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken. Fish was fresh plump and delicate. Chicken was smoky but was listed as boneless in a citrus marinade. It was with all the original bones from rib cage to drumstick femur, and no flavor of citrus to be found. Pasta was not al dente. The sauce soaked into the pasta and made it a bit pasty and clotted. This dish did not taste freshly made, but was sitting around for an hour, which caused the pasta to soak up the sauce and made it soggy. Definitely needs to be al dente to get a 5 star. Tres Leches cake was delicious and a perfect ending. What I found odd was the hostess asked me to add a review to Google while watching me. I almost gave them a 4 star but given the lack of freshness in the pasta dish and a hostess who thought she would pressure me to give them a 5 star, I think 3 star is more than they deserve given this pressure tactic. I may return to give them a second chance and will adjust as I see fit.

Second visit, waiter ignores me and does not take my order for my main dish, nor does he give me the correct drink order (Due to loud music). He proceeds to ignore me when I try to get his attention to get the dessert selection. He seems busy, but his job is to collect orders and deliver the food. When it was time to pay the bill, I gave my credit card to pay, and instead of asking me what tip to authorize, he turns to my dining partner to ask her for the tip amount. The restaurant is very beautiful with large open windows. The service was a bit slow and not as attentive as other restaurants in CDMX, which wasn’t a big deal for us. The drinks were beautiful and tasted amazing. We only ordered two starters, which were average, so I cannot fully speak on their menu. My reason for 2 stars is because we had ordered another round of chips since we enjoyed them so much. As we were waiting to pay another waiter from another table rushed to our table. We thought he was coming to clean up our plates however he only picked up our half eaten chip basket and quickly walked to the kitchen and placed the chips on a tray. We kept an eye on him because we thought it was kind of weird. A few minutes later we see him add salsas to the same tray and pick it up and take it to ANOTHER TABLE. I honestly couldn’t not believe my eyes. What he did is not only completely unacceptable but also dangerous. After seeing that l would never eat at this restaurant again. Great ambiance, nice waiters and beautiful restaurant in upscale mall in Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City. Live music videos playing on big screen behind the bar is a fantastic idea. Complimentary fried bean dip with tortilla chips and a variety of salsas. Delicious lentil soup. One of the best I ever tasted. Issue: Ordered hamburger medium with no onions - came to the table loaded with onions grilled in sauce on top of it - after long wait - they took it back and quickly gave me a new one with no onions, but it was almost rare - very bloody and falling apart. Come on guys, a steak place should know how to cook a burger. I ended up ordering something else after being asked, but was not offered a free meal after my dinner companion ate his entire meal and I just sat there waiting...that did not impress me.
