Churrería El Moro Coyoacán — Restaurant in Mexico City

I recently visited expecting a top-tier experience given the brand’s stellar reputation, but unfortunately, my visit was underwhelming. The service was below par from the moment I walked in—staff seemed disengaged, unorganized, and not particularly welcoming. It took longer than expected to receive my order, despite the store not being busy.

When the churros finally arrived, they were a huge letdown. They tasted far from fresh—stale and lacking the warm, crisp texture you expect. It felt like they had been sitting out for a while, which really diminished the enjoyment. Considering churros are supposed to be the highlight of the experience, it was a major disappointment.

I hope this was just an off day for them, but based on this experience, I’d have a hard time...

This place looks so cute and I was so excited to come here for dessert after lunch down the road. However, the staff member I dealt with was cold and absent from the moment we walked through the door. When she finally took our order, the churro arrived and it was cold, very oily, hard and coated with a thick blanket of sugar. I persisted and finished the churro but wish I hadn’t. It was so unpleasant…and the sauce, even more unpleasant. I ordered the hazelnut chocolate flavour which arrived in a cling film covered pot and had the most artificial consistency and taste imaginable. Great Churros and hot chocolate! Ordered a Spanish hot chocolate and batch of four churros, two sugar coated and two with cinnamon. The churros were vey good, large in size, warm and crispy. Just enough sugar and cinnamon coating. The Spanish chocolate was excellent, rich with chocolate , dense and sweet. The service was very good, fast and my server was very polite and attentive.
