Tried to steal from us....BEWARE We had terrible service at Cocos - which was not the end of the world however when we asked for the bill our server told us we owed $2,500 MXN without producing an actual bill. We paid it + 15% tip and after handing our server the money I asked him top provide our physical bill. He left and about 10 minutes later came back with a tablet showing us nothing that related to our actual table or our orders. We were a group of 7 that ordered only buckets of beer, no food, no shots, no cocktails. Our actual bill was $1,540 MXN, he tried to over charge us by $960 pesos. He conveniently had our exact $960 in change ready in his pocket which I asked for as well as the 15% tip we had left him. He tried to shame us for not leaving a tip. This is very sad for Sayulita, as a 12 year permanent resident in Sayulita, its terrible to see local businesses do this to customers and I felt the need to warn anyone who would consider...

Food is decent. Location is good. Service is slow. But most importantly, CHECK YOUR BILL!

Like many others we were told our food and drinks was going to be 1,500MXN.

In my head that seemed like a lot and quickly realized even if everything we ordered was 150MXN each ( including beers and other small items) it would be cheaper than 1,500MXN.

So I asked to see the bill. He came back (20 minutes later) with a tablet that I could barely see the screen on and just rattled off everything we ordered to me. I said yep that’s what we ordered but it’s too much.

So he said he would come back with a receipt. 10 mins later back with the same tablet. This time he lets me see it better and shows me what we ordered. The numbers don’t add up. He scrolls down this time all the way and there are two cocktails for 420MXN that we didn’t order.

Right away I can tell this guy caught himself in his lie. Total scam artist.

Do yourself a favour and go...

We've been here several times before, but got different treatment today. We sat down on lounge chairs and ordered 6 drinks over the afternoon. Our tab came to 325 but the server said there was a minimum of 800 today (not mentioned when seated). So instead of leaving when we wanted, we ordered a couple higher end drinks and food to get our tab to 800 pesos. We scanned the menu from the server and had the price list. The tab should have been just above 800, but server said we owed 890 inflating the tab. We've had better experiences in the past, but this visit leaves a bad taste in our mouth and we won't return this trip. Shady tactics - no mention of a minimum when seated + prices inflated from menu listing. There are many other places on the beach that...

Served by Felix who upsold us on “doubles” and “strong” margs, that were anything but, utterly appalled 3 hours later to receive a bill that did not in any way reflect what we had ordered, nor the true strength of the drinks served. Left with barely a buzz between us and a 3500 bill that Felix couldn’t explain upon asking. No wonder the spot was empty as this is obviously their way of scamming the tourists that rock up unsuspectingly. Shame as we would have come back if it were not for the obvious scam underway, will avoid at all costs and recommend you do the same.

I'm giving this a five star based off the bars and restaurants on the beach as well as the customer service. The guys at this bar hustle and make sure you are taken care of. We grab some chaise lounges and chairs where we could relax and not be bothered by vendors. The drinks were great and the food was pretty good too. We didn't go inside much or hang out in there as we were outside. Although there is a posted saying no vendors, vendors still came up to us pretty frequently. Overall this is probably the classiest place on the beach.

GRADES Location A+ for beach and people watching Staff A+ for friendliness Food B good, we only had an appetizer Drink C Flavor was good, but hello, it’s supposed to be a double in a Martini glass and we had 2 and no buzz and they were 900.00 pesos for 4. That’s $11.00 per margarita. Really? That price is way too high for what they are and super high for what they aren’t. So many other places to go, that are better.
