My friends and I made a quick day trip to Sayulita on our visit to Puerto Vallarta. I had heard the food scene here was good and I was not disappointed. La Rustica is near the center of town and not far from the beach. There is ample seating that is both indoors and outdoors. However, the indoor seating is pretty airy so it was nice getting out of the hot sun. We had a corner seat at the front of the restaurant that was great for people watching and for the local street vendors to stop by to sell us their wares. For fun, we even hired a local street musician to play us some songs while we ate. The food and service here is excellent. We were craving pizza and this is one of the best pizza joints I've been to anywhere. If you are looking for sloppy, greasy pizza then look elsewhere. The pizza here had just the right proportions of sauce, cheese and toppings. The crust was thin, light and tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors were exquisite. The mixed drinks here are delightful and so worth it. For 3 pizzas and drinks to feed 5 people our tab came to 800 pesos. A great deal in my opinion. So if you want some tasty drinks and pizza I highly recommend stopping by here on your next visit to Sayulita.

WOW! What an amazing evening here. Everyone was friendly, from the hostess to my server to the busboys. Great environment, very open layout. Great for people watching! Food was out of this world. I was brought complimentary bread which was yummy; it was moist and light, like a yellow cake. But not sweet! I started with the mejillones; I could only eat this for the rest of my life and be happy as clam. No complaints here. The white wine sauce was amazing, and the lightly toasted bread served as the perfect vehicle for the sauce and mussels. I got the garlic shrimps next, the flavor was great. I didn’t love how the shrimp was prepared; sliced in half with the shell still on. Made it awkward to peel. The potato puree was decadent. Didn’t care for the red garnish on top, the texture reminded me of seaweed but without any flavor. The chocolate lava cake was the perfect end to the meal. The ratio of ice cream to cake is very off, but it’s hard to be upset with presentation like that. Margarita was delicious too! Very well balanced. Eating here again for sure before I leave Sayulitas!

We were initially offered seats downstairs and inside, but we asked if we could head up and were given the full drink and food menu in Hula Sayula! It was too cool, too tasty, and our server was too genuine and friendly. We enjoyed the Palomitas de Camarón (delightful and not too filling) with the Margarita de la Pasión and the Negroni Playero for starters. For dinner, we were torn between two pizzas and our server suggested that we could go half and half - which we absolutely did. If you're a freak like me, you'll really enjoy the La Rustica/La Picosita Frankenstein pieces that have a little bit of both pizzas, orrr you'll enjoy each so much individually that you and your person will down a whole large in one sitting. Our experience here was one of the best meals we had - and we were initially against getting non-traditional food after coming all this way! But all of the offerings are so fresh and proudly Mexican, and I'm already looking forward to my next trip back.

I am so glad we decided to try La Rustica while on vacation in Sayulita. Word to the wise that it gets busy and when we went it must have been prime dining time. The wait was 40 minutes, however we opted to sit at the bar and eat so we didn't have to wait at all in the end. I also love to watch bartenders in action so we also got entertainment while waiting on our dinner.

Although it seems this restaurant is known for their pizza, all three in our party decided to pick something from the pasta list. We also got the roasted artichoke to share. Everything was amazing. I got the pesto pasta w/chicken dish and oh my gosh I could've eaten a bowl of the pesto cream sauce all by itself. My husband and son both got different seafood pasta dishes and raved about them as well. The pricing was in line with the quality of the food. They also take credit cards which is few and far between in Sayulita so that was nice to be able to save our pesos for cash only establishments.

I would 100% recommend this restaurant if you want to do a different cuisine. I must say I was impressed with the range of restaurant and food offerings in Sayulita. For foodies, I think you will find a lot of great...
