Went here for new years, and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Firstly, they new years program said they had live music 6-8pm. So we thought this would be perfect for our young kids. They didn’t start the live music until 8pm. Our table only had 1 new years hat on it, so we had to get extra new years stuff from other tables that had much more. It took about an hour for them to bring the first course. We had stayed 2 kids meals and 3 vegan meals. However they brought everyone the same first course. I bit into a chicken unknowingly, even though I don’t eat meat. They then skipped the second course, brought half the table the 3rd course, and the other half the main course. After complaining they missed courses, they tried to make up for it by bringing everything all at once, which was impossible to eat. Also the meat dishes were full of fat. At this point it was too late and we had to get the kids back to bed. So we didn’t even get our main course, and just left. I asked them to send the meal to our rooms, of course they never did. Did I mention this was $250USD per person, to which they refused to refund. Also they never brought anyone champagne which was supposed to be included....
Read moreA Mexican Sports Bar with good noshes and drinks and superb service! There are a few dishes that could be better, like the Guacamole. It was similar to Taco Break, like they all get it from the same batch, boring, bland, needs flavor help and too creamy. We got plain this time, no Grasshoppers since we ditched the kids, who love them added. The dry chips were the same dry and no flavor but the Gardiniera and Sauces were great and needed. Verdes and Picantes, including a white sauce, ranged from mild to spicy. Something for everyone. Otherwise, the Rib Eye Chicharron with Grilled Queso Panela and Onions were delish! The Chicken Quesadillas was seasoned and juicy and great against the Asadero queso. Even better with the Spicy Salsa and a top of Guac. Tried Pulque and know it's not for me but glad we did. Drinks like a cloudy, milky Sake. Also, had Pineapple Margaritas (neat) sin sal con Patron Silver. Good and refreshing. Watched some Playoff games, great camaraderie, a bit of bantering back & forth, with large tvs viewed from every angle. Service is swift, congenial and fun. We had Oscar, Diego and I believe Victor. Had orders to go and a had a...
Read moreDuring our first night in vidanta, we decided to dine at The Cantina, due to the only restaurant in the compound that was showing the world series game. We ordered a ceviche tostada which was listed as a main course menu item but was definitely a $15 dollar, 4 inch diameter appetizers which sat solely on its 16 inch plate. We also ordered the shrimp which came in its skin and a mole sauce accompanied by what appeared to be a precisely measured ounce of spanish rice. I didn't get 6 shrimp or an even dozen, I got seven. How do they determine what the appropriate number of shrimp they serve only God knows. We had a mixed drink and two beers and by the time our check came we had spent nearly one hundred dollars. A tip to all vidanta guests. Get a taxi and have them take you downtown where you can have a much better meal for less money. Oh if you take a look at the compounds menu listing, apparently The Cantina one of the least expensive dining establishments within the fortified...
