We got sweet talked into trying the place by the guy calling at the door. We do not drink alcohol so the buy one get one free margarita didn’t work for us. What worked was the promise of fresh fish. Abs also the fact that it was Christmas Day, lots of places closed and is exhausted after a long day of travel. The available table was appealing. We ordered mocktails, that were decent/a bit on the sweet side. The guacamole was good but the size of the serving was very small. The biggest disappointment was de pseudo ceviche. I don’t know what happened to it but it was not a ceviche at all. It looked liked cooked cubed fish served on top of pico de gallo and tasted like nothing. Yo say I wasn’t impressed is an understatement. The coconut mango shrimp were not bad, the mango sauce was actually good with a nice kick to it, and the risotto that comes with it was surprisingly excellent. That is the only reason I gave the place 3 stars. Now the breaded Mahi Mahi filets were very fresh and excellent. Served over a choice of rice or mashed potatoes and vegetables, nothing extraordinary, but the freshness of the fish made it work. The place is not cheap by Mexican standards but fits the norms of Sayulita that caters mainly to tourists. The service was good and the bathroom was clean. I hope this help and remember DO NOT ORDER...
Read moreUpdate: my husband got food poisoning here. After eating here at 7pm, my husband began violently throwing up at 2am. As mentioned below- we did not drink any alcohol. We split our lunch 50/50 and I am not sick- he ate the surf and turf for dinner. I understand no restaurant wants to think they did this- but I have run through everything we ate and this is the only thing we did not share.
Original review: Not good for food (maybe for drinks- We are currently not drinking). I eat a lot of fish tacos and these are bad. The tortillas tasted like cardboard, breaded fish was tasteless, coleslaw was just purple cabbage carrots and mayonnaise- no other flavors on the tacos. My husbands steak tasted like a dirty grill and the meat had no flavor to it- I spit my bite out- which I have never done before to food. We ordered chips and guacamole that took over 20 minutes, chips were cold and it tasted okay. Do not waste your time and money eating here- the host was nice but our server seemed frustrated we weren’t drinking alcohol.
Also- the faucet in the bathroom doesn’t work- where is anyone washing their hands?! And the bathroom was very dirty.
Also- 3% charge for credit cards- first place we experienced this (some places require a minimum payment for...
Read more*reposting bc I got the owners name wrong and he deserves proper recognition!!! We have been back to Sayulita multiple times since this review and always stop at La Katrina!! It’s our #1 restaurant to recommend to friends :)
This is a must stop in Sayulita!! The food is delicious and they serve a great selection of draught beers which can be hard to find in this town :) All of the staff members are friendly and attentive! They have both patio and indoor seating options, a bar and a few TVs. We were in town during the Super Bowl and enjoyed the ability to watch the game. It’s a great spot to grab a bite & drink and watch your team while in Sayulita! The location is great too, it’s right in the square! We saw lots of performers from our table.
The owners, Guillermo and Anna are beautiful, hard working people who strive for the absolute best customer service! We look forward to coming back to Sayulita and absolutely visiting Guillermo’s spot!! We loved everything that we ordered but I got the garlic fish and it was mouthwatering good 🤌🏼 check it out for...
