Tried to get a table tonight. We were sat in the back of the restaurant in front of the kitchen where there were no other guests seated. It was very hot. There were no fans that we could see. We were just starting our night out and had not been drinking prior to arriving.
My uncle was sweating and took off his shirt. (He didn’t think it was a huge deal since a Halloween party was happening and there were plenty of people in costume, some wearing next to nothing, including one of the owners who was wearing a baby onesie that was extremely tight in the most inappropriate areas, especially for a “family restaurant”)
My uncle was immediately approached and told about the shirt policy. He put his shirt back on immediately. We had no issue with this policy being enforced. We did find it ironic that it was such an issues on a night where others were dressed in costume anyways.. And yes, a shirtless man or a man at the beach could be considered a costume.
We were reminded, quite a few times, that we might need to move over as we were seated at a 12 person table and we were a party of 5. (We made it clear at the beginning of our visit we did not have an issue with sharing a table but to be reminded a few times we felt was extremely unaccommodating and downright rude. Being told once was more than enough ). We were not offered another table if one came available. We were not asked if we would like to wait for another table. We were there for about 15/20 minutes and not even asked for a drink order or brought waters or anything.
We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome so we left and ate somewhere else instead.
Reading the negative reviews on here and reading the snotty replies from the owner really shows what kind of place this is. If you cannot take constructive criticism or give an apology when you have made a mistake, you are in the wrong industry. Maybe there is a reason this place didn’t last in its previous location.
We have family in Bucerias and we visit several times a year with large groups. We will be sure to stay away from this...
Read moreThe food was very good and if my review was based on the food and atmosphere alone, it would get 4 stars.
We were 2 couples and were seated in the upper area Sunday evening. We ordered 1 drink each, the guacamole, a pizza, and one of us had a clam chowder. We ordered one snapper over vegetables my wife and I shared. The fish was very deliciously and perfectly prepared over asparagus and potatoes.
The issues began with the check. We had asked for two separate checks and when the server had brought one check combined, we told him it would be no problem and we would split it out amongst ourselves. On looking at the check total however, our reaction was of surprise as to how high it was. Looking further, there were several expensive main dish items that we did not order. We brought this to our servers attention that maybe we got someone else's bill. He came back a few minutes later with another bill. The amount still seemed incredibly high for our fairly moderate dinner and looking closely, we realized the quantities for most things now had 2 marks in the column instead of one, showing 2 pizzas. 2 chowders. 2 snappers, etc. The server who took our original order was nearby, but a different server was handling the checks.
So we brought the bill dispute up again and the server brought a third bill which was correct. We still tipped generously when we left.
In the manner in which this all happened and the nonchalant way in which the server handled it, we really got the impression and feeling we were being scammed and that these were more than just honest mistakes. Double check your bill before paying at...
