No bueno. First off, the view is great - can’t argue with that. When we first arrived, I asked for a drink menu, they said they didn’t have one. They then said they would bring it on an iPad, but it never showed up. Another waiter told us the iPad was dead. Ok… You could have let us know. So whatever. I ordered some drink that came in a giant elephant shaped mug because the girl at the next table had it and it looked fun. Apparently they have fun drinks that come in specific glasses depending on the drink… But no drink menu? How would you know these drinks even exist? Why did one waiter say he would bring a drink menu and another said the iPad was dead and another said there was no drink menu. Anyway. I digress.
The food. The table next to is said it was the best meal they had ever had, they had steak and mashed potatoes. We had appetizers and tacos. The apps were fine… the tacos were horrendous. The taco with bone marrow is a blue taco shell with some semblance of meat and ON THE SIDE, a hunk of bone with undercooked marrow inside with a toothpick stuck in the middle “So you can play with it” said the waiter. Wait, what? Totally unappetizing and not good at all. I LOVE new tastes. I love trying different foods. But this was… odd. I expected the marrow to be IN the taco. This just didn’t make sense.
We didn’t say anything or voice our displeasure at all… we didn’t care. When it comes to restaurants, you win some, you lose some. The thing that made me want to leave the negative review was the service. Our waiter in particular was so bad. He was rude and very disinterested and rarely checked on us for more drinks. At the end of the meal, when my friend was in the bathroom, he came over and tossed the cheque down on the table and just said “here.” Look, I get I’m in another country and there can be a language barrier… But the other tables had great service, had waiters that seemed to be enjoying their jobs. Not this guy. It was disappointing. We were polite! We didn’t complain about anything! We didn’t eat the tacos, but we didn’t say anything about them, good nor bad. The entire night was just bad.
And as mentioned by another reviewer, for such a fancy place, I can confirm the bathrooms are filthy dirty. That was just the icing on the cake on the way out from our bad dining experience.
Again, this was MY experience. The table next to us LOVED their food and their service… So, go see for...
Read moreJust ok... I was excited to try a new restaurant in Bucerias but was unfortunately disappointed... We were walking by and the hostess at the entrance enticed us to enter by offering a welcome drink. She gave us a little flyer for a free drink and sent us up to the restaurant. The place was nice new, modern and clean. We were excited for a new restaurant in our town. Our waiter said the welcome drink was good for one Margherita or Martini. We asked for strawberry Margaritas blended. Then another waiter brought us lime Margheritas and when I mentioned that we ordered blended strawberry he just said that the "welcome drink" is only good for lime on the rocks and nothing else.. then he said is that going to be ok? I just said well I guess we have no choice. ( I expect him to say no don't worry I'll fix it for you). And unfortunately he said yes that's true, laughing a little at my comment and then just walked away... We ordered a couple appetizers ( they were just ok) and glasses of wine and left. I don't care about free stuff or haggling for a couple drinks but I expected more from a decent classy restaurant. At the very least I would expect the waiter to say something like sorry for the confusion and bring a couple blended strawberry Margheritas. It makes zero difference to their bottom line and obviously a totally different experience for us the customers.. I expect these sleazy "free drink" tricks at lower class restaurants but not a place like this. I really hope someone from Meet Meat reads this and gets what I'm saying. It's pretty easy to make someone's day with a little kind gesture. I live here in Bucerias so I will probably be back but only because it is nice, new and shinny ..... But that doesn't last for ever. If the service gets kinder. I will change my review in the future....
Read morestop reading this review and just go. you will be glad you did. If you read on, see why I gave it four instead of five. I chose steak off of a cart. they were beautiful, nice selection, seeing the marbling and actual steak--seldom do diners get a choice. love the casual yet upscale space. Juan the waiter, well, I just exhaled relief when he introduced himself. Old-school Vallarta, genuinely pleasant, none of that witty repartee waiters adopt for visitors. Genuinely there to please, not work for the tip, gracious, accommodating and yes I can manner. I'll ask for him again. Steak was perfectly prepared; vegetables, not so much as they were undone and cool. thing is? I'm almost glad because Juan traded them out for the mashed potatoes. they alone are worth a trip back. tuna tartare was fresh fresh fresh. that is not always the case. what, you say, in a seaside resort? yes, in a seaside resort. Theirs was great and this would entice me to return. The view: beautiful, gorgeous, stunning. the weird part was getting in and out. the restaurant is in a condo still under construction. to keep out the riff raff, there is an iron gate between you and the restaurant. I arrived eight minutes early and stood nose to nose at the iron gate waiting. many others were allowed access, as they were owners or some such. once admitted to the inner sanctum, I was asked to wait by a flurried security person...needed the special guy to take me up on the well used service elevator. upon my ascent into the restaurant, I was handed off to a person who directed me to my table. Leaving was the same, wait fr your trip down the service elevator. Hm. first and last...
