Disappointed Experience at Beluga, Monterrey – Memorable for the Wrong Reasons
We visited Beluga in Monterrey for a special evening, and while the ambiance and initial service started off well, the overall experience was ultimately disappointing.
Our reservation was honored without issue, and we were seated promptly in a quiet section of the restaurant. Despite nearby patrons smoking, the ventilation must have been excellent, as we didn’t notice any lingering smoke — a definite plus.
Our appetizers, the Chicharrón de Ribeye and Ostiones al Piquín, were delicious, and the mixologist delivered solid cocktails with no complaints on that end. However, the main course is where everything unraveled.
We ordered the Pasta di Frutti di Mare, expecting a seafood medley. Instead, we received a Pasta al Salmone. Technically, salmon is seafood — but the dish was missing the variety promised. What truly soured the night wasn’t the mix-up, but the response. Our server, Azahel, seemed inexperienced and offered no resolution, relying heavily on others to answer our questions throughout the evening. His supervisor, Francisco, acknowledged the mistake but offered nothing beyond a polite apology. No adjustment was made to the bill, and we were still charged for the incorrect dish.
Despite the poor handling, we still left a 5% tip (around 500 MXN), out of principle, not satisfaction. As my wife said, we’ll likely return — it’s the place where we had our first date. But after last night, I sincerely wish it had...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Beluga in Monterrey, Mexico, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a memorable evening.
We started with the cauliflower, which was perfectly roasted with a delightful balance of flavors—crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. The truffle fries were a standout as well, with a rich, earthy aroma that paired beautifully with the crispiness of the fries.
For the mains, we opted for grilled fish and steaks. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a delicate flakiness and a fresh, vibrant taste that spoke to its high quality. The steaks were juicy and tender, cooked exactly to our liking, with a deep, savory flavor that was complemented by a subtle smokiness from the grill.
The service was attentive and professional, with the staff making sure that every detail of our meal was attended to without being intrusive. It was clear that they were passionate about the food and committed to providing a top-notch dining experience.
Overall, Beluga exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a culinary experience that blends excellent food, great service, and a...
