La Buena Barra — Restaurant in Nuevo León

I have to admit that I was a little turned off from the pricing of their menu at first. $25USD for one drink but I’m under the impression it is because they display their drinks with creativity. I ordered the “Olaf” and received my beverage in a plastic horn, which was neat but grossed me out. Drinking a beverage from a plastic object doesn’t sit well with me.. Our waiter provided very poor service, we felt rushed and then ignored. We even had to call a manager over to get a glass to pour my drink into as we requested one with our waiter, who was seen standing around. On the bright side, my husband enjoyed the Sexy M#%^*ker drink, stating it was quit tasty.

I ordered the tuna and hamachi sashimi and they were out of tuna. Very unhappy with portion size for $25USD and no accommodation for no tuna.

We also ordered the pastor tacos. Neat display, we would rate it 7/10.

My business partner ordered the tuna tartar tostadas, she stated they were decent. Instead of a tostada size, it was more of a chip size. 4 pieces.

I ordered the grilled octopus and was pleasantly surprised how well it was cooked and seasoned. It came with delicious lemon potato’s on the side, I’ve never tasted anything like it.

THIS IS A MUST VISIT IF IN MONTERREY MEXICO! BEST EXPERIENCE HERE EVERY SINGLE TIME AND IT NEVER FAILS!!!!!!! This is the 2nd time I've been and I'm from the USA. Hands down the best restaurant I've been too in my life on both occasions and the 2nd time was even better on new years! Service is impeccable, they replaced my hand cloth when I dropped one on the floor and I didn't notice. They replace the table cloth, replace your dishes/plates and silverware countless times so you're not left with a dirty plate. Food is BEYOND delicious as usual and always well priced. Never surprised by the bill at the end, always fair. For example, for a dinner of two I had a 500g rib eye steak ON a salt block, 2 house made cocktails, 3 glasses of wine, and 3 appetizers all for $113 USD...unbelievable!!! The other restaurants in the area are extremely overrated and more expensive (mercurio as an example). 100000% recommend and...

When they assigned us that table number, it sounded like we were going to have a great night, it wasn't the case.

It seems the restaurant is having its financial problems, last 3 times we ate from Buena Barra, we've got not fresh, bad quality, reheated, defrosted seafood, with a bad taste of freezer / microwave. Last time it gave us a stomach ache that lasted several hours. In the bathroom expensive handsoap bottles were refilled with cheapest soap, handtowels were cut-out paper towels. I complained nicely, what I want is a good place to eat, not a discount; I've got none, but a false sense of being listened.

The Buena Barra beer was great and the dessert was good too.

It wasn't always like this, from a year back it was a great place, with great food, right now they are cutting corners and thinking the customer won't notice. We don't see ourselves returning...
