Barrio Cafe La Punta — Restaurant in Oaxaca

A charming café with a garden-like setting. Service was prompt, and I enjoyed their breakfast menu.

The coffee prices are reasonable, with a delicious and substantial Flat White costing 45 pesos (as of Feb 25).

I ordered the Omelette de Espinaca, which was very green :) While this creativity is refreshing, I would prefer real spinach leaves in the future. The pan de masa madre was delicious. The omelette dish was a bit carb-heavy due to the bread and additional potatoes, but this was clearly indicated on the menu, so no complaints there. I'd personally prefer more veggies / greens.

The café offers solid and fast WiFi. Seating options are mixed, with some being a bit wobbly and exposed to the sun.

Card payment is available. They suggest a rounded-up 15% tip on the bill, which I found somewhat presumptuous. It would be better to let customers choose the tip or stick to the common 10% service charge. I deducted only one star for this, as the coffee prices...

The service here is terrible. I don’t know if they had a bad morning or what.

We arrived and it took them a while to notice us because they’re talking to each other. There was only another full table (2 people).

We ordered just a fruit salad bowl and a sandwich. After 30 min of waiting, we asked how it was going and the lady there seemed to get offended and very rudely said that it was going to take a while, that we had only been waiting for 15 min and that we could cancel it. The worst thing is that she offered right away, she didn’t even try to explain.

It’s a shame that it went that way. I hadn’t even considered canceling and when I said it, she even mocked me. The other lady was more polite so it makes me wonder if they had a bad day or if they’re just like that.

Barrio Cafe is one the best hidden gems of La Punta and Liesa the owner is a large reason for that. She will always greet you warmly with a smile and truly cares about her customers and the quality of food/service. The atmosphere is lush and vibrant with both amazing food and vibes. Best coffee in town, smoothie bowls are always fresh and delicious (only green smoothie bowl in town), sandwiches (toasties) are just right..perfectly seasoned and toasted with abundant toppings and their fresh juices make my day.
