BLACK BABA — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Leaving this review because I felt I had to after the bad experience I had with this place. Based on all the great reviews we saw on here, we were super excited to try this place out during our 5 day stay in PE. Only to everyday be fully disappointed with this place in different ways. First day, they were closed in afternoon during times listed open hours. 2nd day, we go in and ask for boba but they have no boba at all and tell us come back tomorrow. 3rd day we come back and ask if they got the boba, nope no boba, so okay we’ll just take a coffee I guess…. Nope, no coffee today either. At this point it became a joke to us like how the hell has this place gotten such good reviews but we were determined to try it. 4th day I show up, there’s 2 people in front of me who had just ordered. Still no boba, but I’ll get a coffee. Finally when lady asks me what I would like, I just say iced coffee… which then she tells me okay it will be about 20 min wait! For iced coffee?! 5th and final day we’re here we show up at 10am to try one last time and surprise surprise they have no one there to open the shop even tho hours listed say it opens at 8am.

So after all this we felt we just needed to leave a review to give everyone else a legit review of how our experience was trying to get anything from this place for 5...

Been here a couple times and whilst the food is good and the drinks are nice one thing I feel they can improve is the tipping & giving change. On two occasions the server showed no sign in giving me change and another time I felt like I was forced to tip. Understandable that some places warrant a tip however this cafe is already priced at a premium so you expect good service/ experience without needing to tip just my suggestion, especially when the card payment system allows a minimum of 10% which is abit cheeky since this isn’t America. All the mushroom coffees are great and delicious...

Not sure what people are thinking. The server does not know Boba. It was rubbery and flavorless. I ordered the Mocha and it was ok at best. It had chopped espresso which was a nice touch but everything else was a waste. Also, we were told restrooms were available to us at the Sushi restaurant upstairs if we made a purchase. I went up to ask for a restroom and mentioned that I made a purchase downstairs and was still being charged to use it. Terrible experience all around.
