Tlayudas Libres Doña Martha — Restaurant in Oaxaca

Honestly, I'd tell anyone reading this to avoid any negative reviews on this place. These Tlayudas are one of the best dishes I've had in Oaxaca. I've had everything from street food in several places in Mexico, to Michelin star restaurants. And these were nothing short of delicious. Me and my wife had a tlayuda de cecina. It was crunchy, the beans had great flavor, the proper amount of cheese, and the cecina was grilled to perfection. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'm very disappointed. We had to wait more than an hour just to be seated or looked at. When we asked the waiters, they looked annoyed and just told us to wait back there by some chairs they had against the wall. There is no organization among staff members. There is no line to order or anything. Never, ever I have seen a good business (food was good and fresh) doing such a bad job attending to customers. Plus, there are two businesses that sell the same thing side to side. In the end, we figured out that we went to the wrong one, or at least the one that we didn't intend to go. Delicious, generous, and savory meat tlayudas made to order -- one will easily feed 2 people! Was busy on a Thursday night between 8-8:30pm and as such, service took awhile -- 45 minutes or so. Keep your eyes open for crowds here; if you're looking for a fast street snack after a few mezcals, go elsewhere, but if you have time for a proper tlayuda, this is a strong contender.
