ARCANA restaurante — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

The space itself is lovely and the food looks delicious. Why I'm giving this a one star review is that I took the time to talk in detail to the waitstaff about bottled water being sold in a vegan restaurant and then I also took substantial time to write to the management team an email and they did not respond to me which I was most disappointed with. I think as a vegan restaurant they need to be concerned for the environmental impact of serving bottled water, regardless of how special that bottled water might be. Garafons (big refillable water containers of 20litres of water for max 30 pesos) are available to serve to customers in every other restaurant I've been in here and costs almost nothing and is a far better solution for the environment. Also putting the staff in an awkward position to respond to customers I don't think is also a very nice way to go. I was hoping the management would respond to me, but they haven't, hence writing...

I love finding new Vegan places and Arcana is one I'll be coming back to over and over again. We arrived with no real expectations and left big fans. Customer service is great, friendly staff and the design is fresh and we could easily hang out all day. We kept it simple, ordered the Acai bowl, bean soup and a couple of drinks. Love the middle eastern influence, the Acai bowl was full of flavour and we'll balanced. Bean soup was light but filling, we did add a little chilli but that's just us. The Hemp milk was delicious and will be back just for that. I love my black coffee and this was the only thing that could improve, its not bad but for me, they could find a better roast. No kids just our dog, who was welcomed with a fresh bowl of water.

Really wanted to eat here but could not enter because there is no wheelchair ramp. It's really annoying to see ground-level vegan restaurants promoting ethics when it comes to animals, yet they can't even show basic respect and inclusivity toward human beings by installing a wheelchair ramp. To make a simple ramp costs less than a single chair.

And here I was thinking vegans wanted to "be the change". Shame on you Arcana and all the non-inclusive vegan...
