vibrant essence of Mexican cuisine, look no further than Sanchez Tacos. This unassuming gem is a taco lover’s dream come true, where every bite takes you on a journey of bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and unforgettable memories.
The Setting: Casual yet Cozy Sanchez Tacos may not be the flashiest spot in Playa del Carmen, but that’s part of its charm. With its casual, laid-back vibe and welcoming atmosphere, you instantly feel at home the moment you walk in. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite after a day at the beach or sitting down for a more leisurely meal with friends, this place feels like a cozy Mexican oasis.
The Tacos: Unrivaled in Flavor Let’s talk tacos—the star of the show. From the first bite, it’s clear that Sanchez Tacos doesn’t just serve food; they serve a taco experience. Each taco is meticulously crafted with the freshest ingredients and a perfect balance of textures.
The al pastor taco is a must-try. The tender, marinated pork is perfectly charred, offering a smoky sweetness that’s complemented by just the right amount of pineapple. The meat is juicy, flavorful, and melts in your mouth with every bite. If you're a fan of spice, the carne asada taco will hit the spot—grilled to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning, making each bite as satisfying as the last.
Don’t miss the carnitas taco either. Slow-cooked to perfection, the pork is so tender it practically falls apart with a gentle touch, paired with a rich, savory flavor that lingers long after the taco is gone.
Salsas: A Burst of Flavor The salsas at Sanchez Tacos are the real deal. You get a selection of house-made salsas that range from mildly tangy to downright fiery. The roja salsa is rich and smoky, with a heat that builds gradually, while the verde salsa delivers a refreshing burst of tang and zest. The salsas perfectly complement the tacos, adding layers of flavor that elevate the entire meal.
Toppings & Freshness Sanchez Tacos keeps it simple, but in the best way. Fresh cilantro, crisp onions, and a squeeze of lime all come together to balance the richness of the meats. But what truly sets these tacos apart is the freshness of the ingredients. You can taste the difference in every crunchy onion, every juicy cilantro leaf, and every perfectly sliced lime. It’s a celebration of freshness and authenticity in every bite.
Service: Friendly and Efficient The staff at Sanchez Tacos are warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They make you feel like a valued guest, whether you’re a local regular or a first-time visitor. The service is efficient, and the staff is always ready to offer recommendations if you’re unsure about what to try.

Read moreTacos Deluxe There’s three things that are plentiful in PDC-taxis, massage girls and taco joints. Being a huge fan of the last one, I was excited to be invited to a new taco spot located halfway down cento’s lovely Calle 38, south of 5th. Our fellow Texan expats sang the praises of this restaurant named Sanchez, only identified by a neo-lite sign in front showing an outreached hand offering a taco. So, on a rainy Saturday evening my beautiful yet sometimes bewildered wife and I arrived at the smallish eatery to find our Canadian, Coloradoan and Texan amigos already seated. We greeted everyone and began reviewing the voluminous menu listing dozens of taco dishes. Minutes later previously ordered apps appeared at the table. Delicious looking platters of roasted vegetables and tempura fried cauliflower with a burnt orange remoulade dipping sauce were passed around to each diner. Now I love cauliflower-fried, steamed, roasted or however and this dish was super satisfying to be almost addicting. The roasted veggies were also quite good. These two starters aren’t usually found on any other taco spots’ menus but were a perfect opener. With such a large menu, it was difficult to select our taco dish but with help from our ultra-attentive server, we all picked out our tacos of choice. My esposa perfecto ordered the tinga chicken taco and, after the waiter stirred me away from my initial choice of mole chicken to the rib-eyed steak taco, I was set too. Our friends picked pulled pork, tangy chicken and other taco types and a variety of cocktails. As we drank and discussed wide ranging topics ranging from skiing in the Rockies, sailing in Croatia and going on Kenyan safari, very quickly our dinners arrived. On each plate lay two open-faced taco loaded with good stuff. And yes, they were tremendously tasty and surprisingly filling. We finished our meal with a wonderful chocolate brownie topped with ice vanilla cream. Incredibly rich and a perfect ending to a great meal. So, the next time you start to grab a taxi or search for that happy ending, don’t. Save you quickly appreciating pesos and head over to Sanchz for...
Read moreWe had two dinners in this little place. The first day we were attracted by the live music, the place was full, and they treated us kindly, we ate spectacular Rib Eye tacos and Gobernador de Camaron. Our experience was so good that we returned the next day. The place was emptier, we thought because they didn't have live music. This time we ordered drinks and some corn ribs as a starter. Then we wanted to order other drinks and more food but suddenly the service declined greatly, the waitress Martina took the order and disappeared. Apparently there were many people and few staff. We were patient until we asked Alvarito, a boy from Chiapas who helps everyone in the service and attention of the place and who has INDESCRIPTIBLE potential at 18 years old. He went and told Marina (our waitress) but nothing happened! She had obviously forgotten the order we had to repeat and this time Alvarito wrote it down. Another half hour passed and we called the Host Silvana who kindly helped us and called the Manager Daniela. She personally took care of our order, apologized and the bill was on the house. In the end, the horrible experience we were having was SAVED by these 3 people: Alvarito, Silvana and Daniela. And thanks to this and the extraordinary food, atmosphere and music, it became a place worth visiting, if you are in Playa del Carmen. We will definitely BE BACK!!!! Hopefully under Daniela's guidance they can improve...
