Had dinner with two friends, food is good, service was OK although way too slow but then the waiter was so rude and aggressive that ruined our experience. After waiting at least 15 minutes to get the bill and another 5-10 to be charged (we were paying by credit card), the waiter asked me if I wanted to add tip. I said “Yes add 10%” as I have always done in Mexico since 2020. The waiter said that the minimum was 15% - justifying his request on the basis of a small piece of paper attached somewhere saying “Suggested tip 15%”. When I told him I was free to tip 10% and even less, he got furious and aggressive and I literally had to argue with him. He was literally screaming - and no manager or anyone else told him anything at all.

He also said something about “loosing money out of his pocket” and something unclear about “7% not going to him”. Neither me nor my friends understood what he wanted to say. Probably there is something strange going on in the way their tips are managed by the restaurant owners.

Honestly the worst dining experience in Playa in 3 years. They simply show no interest in their customers.

There are so many other great fish places in Playa, I recommend everyone to...

One of the best restaurants on 5th Ave, which are hard to find amongst all the tourist traps. The tostadas are great and the seafood is fresh with generous portions. We really liked the seared tuna and aguachile tostadas, but we prefer the corn tostadas over the flour ones, and they will happily use corn if you ask. We are gringos, but most of the guests are Spanish speaking, and they cater to both crowds really well. Mezcalitas and other cocktails are delicious and consistent. Prices are reasonable for 5th Ave and inexpensive by American standards, but not the cheapest if you want to go outside the tourist area. Service is excellent and lots of great people watching and some performers come by at busy times. The chips and salsa are nothing special; I think they only serve those for the gringos expecting Tex Mex, which is not what you should expect here. Overall one of our favorite...

While I confess I don't usually gravitate towards seafood, dining at this restaurant was a palate-pleasing revelation. The fish boasted an undeniable freshness that even a non-aficionado like myself could appreciate, and it was truly delightful.

From the moment we were welcomed, the service was top-notch. The waitstaff's professional demeanor and genuine warmth contributed significantly to the positive dining experience. Their dedication to providing an enjoyable meal has ensured my enthusiastic return in the future.

It's only fair to mention that not every dish I sampled won me over completely. However, I attribute this more to my novice status in the world of seafood rather than any shortcomings on the restaurant's part. Every dish was at the very least good, and a seasoned seafood enthusiast might very well find them exceptional. I eagerly anticipate...

The Hubs and I sat on a table by the streets. The staff were attentive enough and were helpful. We ordered a Ceviche Tropical ($236mxp) and La Coloradita cocktail ($180mxp) for dinner. The orders came within 10 mins of ordering. The Ceviche Tropical was filling enough for both of us. Tasted sweet, tangy with some salt (not overwhelming). The Mahi Mahi and the rest of the ingredients tasted fresh. The drink is a bit small but tasted refreshing with full bouquet of hibiscus flavours. It's not as spiked as much as other locations, though. Overall, pretty good price, portion and taste for a place right on 5th. Cocktails could be better.

I have lived in Playa for years, and stayed thru covid and what it did to this city. The owners of Las Hijas were the last to close, the first to reopen, and took care of their employees throughout. The food is spectacular, the service is 3 levels above what you expect in playa 5th ave restaurants, and the owners are focused on the service 100%. Every employee here is so talented, from the hostess to the manager. You will be a local from your first visit. The bartenders, Vicki(!), Nati, Dulce, remember every single client, and when I bring friends, they all rave about the best service they experienced for the whole vacay.
