Lonchería Los Machacados — Restaurant in Playa del Carmen

We went on a mild temperature night, but the place was hot! The kitchen radiates heat to the whole place and you will be hot for your entire visit. The prices seem a little high for a place where locals dine, but the portions are big. There’s nothing extraordinary to say about the flavors. We had tortas, salbutes, empanadas and machacados; the salbutes were the highlight.

The service is poor, the business appears to by ran family and for whatever reason they don’t seem happy to be there and their service reflects that. Maybe the heat in that place?

Out of everything I tried here, my favorites were the Salbutes and the corn-flavored “machacado” (shaved ice).

Delicious and inexpensive traditional local food; think I spent no more than $50 USD on the whole bill (6 adults). Don’t be a **, tip well.
