Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mezcla, a charming neighborhood gem owned by Ismaeel. The experience was nothing short of exceptional.
Mezcla’s concept of "Mexican-inspired small plates with a European twist" is beautifully executed. Each dish we tried was a delightful fusion of flavors, blending the vibrant, bold tastes of Mexican cuisine with sophisticated European techniques. The menu offers a variety of small plates, perfect for sharing and sampling a bit of everything.
The artesanal cocktails were a highlight of the evening. The mixologists at Mezcla have crafted a selection of drinks that are as innovative as they are delicious. From classic mezcal cocktails to unique wine pairings, each drink was a perfect complement to the dishes.
The ambiance of Mezcla is warm and inviting, with cozy indoor seating and a lovely garden area that provides a tranquil dining experience. The garden seating, in particular, is perfect for a relaxed evening under the stars.

One could taste the creativity and pride that Ismaeel puts into each dish and prices are reasonable for the quality of food served.
Four of us had dinner there last night and were intrigued by the variety of the menu.
To start, we were given fire-roasted salsas unlike we have ever tasted!
We ordered dishes to share and each one was seasoned to perfection and popped with flavor. We ordered two of Ismaeel’s suggestions - fire-roasted corn and soft shell crab - great suggestions, thank you!
The crispy sea bass tacos and pork belly tacos melted in our mouths.
The braised short rib tacos were fall-off-the-bone tender.
I didn’t partake of the grilled pulpo but the rest of the group said it was delicious.
The smoked sausage croquetas was tasty.
The sautéed prawns - exceptional, so flavorful…and the sauce it comes in was sopped up with slices of grilled sourdough. Note: There were more prawns in the dish before this photo was taken!
The caramelized banana with vanilla ice cream hit the spot with the right sweetness.
Even the Jamaica was on point with just a hint of sweetness - not cloyingly sweet nor pucker-lip tart as is typical.
After tasting the first two dishes, I was too excited to try everything else that I forgot to take photos 😂
Our server, Carlos, was attentive and personable - checking in regularly to see if there was anything we needed.
Mezcla’s indoor/outdoor set-up transports you to an oasis and you forget you’re still in the city.
What did we think of the restaurant?
