IMPORTANT I will write a review here on important honest info about this place, if you plan on visiting read this. The seats are good I recommend sitting at the cabin seats they were nice, you get the food decently fast. In terms of food the first thing served was "Salmon tartar with eel sauce and chipotle sauce" this I will admit honestly I incredibly recommend it was very good and comes with chips, if you plan on coming get this. But I would recommend nothing else the prices are outrageous to tourists and people, I came in with plans to spend money so I didn't care but keep in mind it's extremely expensive. If you know sushi 1 "salmon" which is the simplest thing they have, costs $10 EACH. Rolls I wanted like the cone seaweed with rice and a piece of salmon but couldn't even get that it was $30 per piece. If you know sushi you'll realize these prices are horrendous. The food other then that tartar is also bad, with the price of the food it's incredible that they still end up cheating out. I got 50rolls in total different ones and they all tested the same. The one that looks great on the image I forgot the name it's covered with red caviar and looks expensive, it comes with cheese in top of a roll of rice. There is a tiny piece of avocado and the rest is rice, and many of the rolls contained mainly rice. I wanted to try sushi in Mexico and I would suggest to not, its a waste of money and time. If you really want as I said the tartar was incredible. The service will seem good but please do not tip them honestly save your money, that sounds rude and outright disrespectful but hear me out. After I was done I had a waiter named " Joque " and I tipped him 300 pesos a very large amount because I know it's not a rich country and the service seemed great. But he ended up coming back and took 5minutes telling me to give more and why do I think his service was terrible. It was not terrible service that's why I tipped so much in Canada if I tipped just 100 pesos for example they would be really grateful that'd a good tip. For a bit of his time Jorque got 300pesos and came back to us to complain. After he realized I wasn't gonna give more he stormed off and swore at us in Spanish, not to our face but walked away saying some stuff in Spanish to himself and I recognized a few words they were not pretty. I then loudly said " I can take back the tip if you don't want it" and he pointed the middle finger at me. The service seems great but they are too greedy and spoiled do not tip and do not feel bad. This is a place that does not deserve that. Also if you think this won't happen to you and that I'm lying this is a ongoing issue, check the q&a for example people mention that waiters come back to demand more money even with big tips, if you plan on tipping thousands of pesos and have all the money in the world, they certainly do not deserve it and with your money you won't be able to buy good food there. Fill yourself on salmon tartar nothing else, the tuna is imported so it tastes old and is not good quality, the wasabi also tastes very old.
Overall I would NOT recommend going here but if you decide to go, try the salmon tartar and if you get Jorque as your server ( light brown looking guy with sleepy eyes and pretty good English) then please do not tip or ask why he is so rude. You could ask him what he thinks is a good tip he'd probably say around 1000 pesos at least, you can mention to him that a teen boy with his dad sitting in the booths exposed him, he really hated us so he'd get pretty mad. Thankyou everything I said here is true and if you eat here you will find that out
Side note, if you think the food is good then try monkey sushi in Canada for example or try more sushis because if you genuinely think that sushi is good they you have not tried good sushi.
Also they charge 15pesos for...
Read moreWith Sōma Urban Sushi Bar, the best place for sushis in Playa. Why not have more than just one sushi place to enjoy !!
Located in Calle Corazon on the second floor of one the high-end luxury shopping mall on the 5th ave., on Monday, it was sushi night - 2 for 1 (when the sign is on, see attached picture), the menu is huge with various selection of rolls, soups, salads, teppan yaki, noodles, king rolls, wraps, sumashi,...you will get to select from a 12 page food menu, excluding drinks and cocktails.
We started with a mango margarita that looked like ice cream and a Mojito. We took chose the 10 sushi roll Fujiyama and Samba roll...wow, one is with tuna & mango and the other one: salmon and schrimp, chipotle covered with hot melted cheese...Amazing taste !!
We finished our main meal with a hot teppan yaki mix with schrimps, chicken, steak and vegetables coupled with a nice light tasting sauce.
We are sorry but we were not brave enough to try the spider sushi, attached in photo below.
To finish the night, we were amazed by the cocoa ice cream with rum and bananas...delightful to the end.
This place offer seating inside and outside with a roof top on the second floor, wooded boot with TV playing music videos, regular tables and 3 in ground tables like the old traditional Japanese houses. High chairs for young children are available.
This is a cozy place but, in high demand, with waiting time after 19h00pm usually. Service is fast and efficient, I suggest that you order a piece at a time to be able to have a longer dinner experience, enjoying great food, good company and conversation.
2 large TV inside that plays music videos. Friendly staff in Spanish or English. I raise my hat to all the chefs and serving staff at Sushis roll for an amazing experience !!
I understand that Google contributors may have had a different experience at Sushi Roll then mine, I respect that but, I suggest you give it a second chance or try Sōma Urban Sushi Bar on calle 8 between 5th and 10th aves. The no rice sushis and romadas are worth trying, there are superb geishas and soldiers painting on walls and a DJ on site at night. You will feel immerse in Japenese traditions.
Delivery service is available...
Read moreI will start with that place located in the central part of tourist area. It’s nice and clean place. Very welcoming. Although I almost ran away until an English speaking person came to me.They have only a few English speaking waiters but let me tell you Albin does know what he’s doing. Light positive music accompanied by video played around restaurant.
I had Ramen(small-be aware of portion size), miso brought with salmon. As I ate it, it’s not a final version of that dish, but if they will make adjustments it will be delicious, healthy and not heavy. If you a tourist and good with any alcohol ask him for advice mine was delicious “ a bit heavy on ice” so if you want less you have to tell them. My second dish was “Lennon“ roll. First what you need to know portions are huge so if you want to try different things bring friends or be ready to take a “doggy bag”. Sushi are all the same size and don’t fall apart. I had salmon cucumber avocado and crab in rice. Also I was given three types of soya souse, regular, with lemon it gives a hint of sweetness and spicy with jalapeño. It is all up to your pallet to decide but I tried all and they all are bringing different flavours of a sushi. I had a green tea with sushi to balance it all. It’s a small place so understandable that washrooms are small. Although they do require upgrading at least doors MUST be changed.
My bill was 624 pesos or $36.71 US for one person. In my opinion it is very affordable( ramen, cocktail, sushi and tea), but according to natives it’s a bit to expensive. If you are a tourist from America Canada or Europe then it’s very reasonable price
In overall experience is positive and definitely not a bad place to come for dinner. I wasn’t at the busiest time but I’m satisfied with...
